PALESTINE - THE SUFFERING GOES ON

Israel just recently wiped out an extended Palestinian family of eighteen in the Gaza Strip, an unfortunate mistake they called it, meanwhile the Iraq debacle goes from bad to worse. I think that public opinion is at last beginning to understand that the Middle East is the most volatile place on earth with the potential to spill over into major warfare from which no - one will be spared. That slow understanding also shows signs of realising that the reason for this is the rogue state of Israel, hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refugees all over the world can still remember their homes, farms and villages which were taken by force by the Israeli terrorists. Like most Palestinians I would like to see a return to 1948 Palestine with Jews being accepted as fellow citizens of equal stature no matter where from. This now looks unattainable and a return to 1967 borders looks like the best solution, the Israelis however have shown that they can't be trusted to agree to that, despite the revulsion of the rest of the world ( excluding the USA ) and countless UN resolutions against them, they continue to brutalise the Palestinians and, with the help of the worlds biggest bully, America, they ignore the international cries for justice. Someday the decent nations of the world will put a stop to this historical war crime, let's hope it's not too late.

You say you are opposed to nationalism - are you opposed to Palestinian nationalism?

what a pathetic comment - say something about what's going on !

OK - I support the right of the Palestinian people to be able to govern thmeselves in their own nation.
I support the right of the Irish nation to have self-determination
I also support the right of to self-determination of the Scottish nation to be able not to join in Labour's imperial adventures and to stop children being dragged from their beds at dawn by John Reids stormtroopers.
Which one of these nationalisms do you oppose?

To Fido - Check out yesterday's UN report into Israel's actions in Gaza and Lebanon. Has a blog responder every been more appropriately named than you ?

Dear anonymous - the Palestinian and Irish situations are there because of ( as they would say )the occupiers force of arms - the Scottish situation is different but I suspect you already know that. You are a bit to obvious, the Scots can decide for themselves if they want nationalism, that choice has never been denied them, unless of course you want to go on about the mythical wee Willie Wallace. Unfortunately for you, they have always rejected narrow nationalism and if they have any sense they will do so again.

So you are not against nationalism - only the Scottish National Party.
No principle just self-interest.

I don't want to talk about myths -
Trident,Iraq, dawn raids, low life expectancy these are the realities of Labour - the party that you represent.

Dear anonymous coward - perhaps I need to simplify it for you, I am against nationalism as displayed by the Scottish Nationalist Party it's no different from the nationalism we have seen in the past, particularly in Europe. It is characterised by hatred of England and all things English and makes most Scots cringe with embarrassment. Trident, the Iraq war and Dawn raids are all opposed by me but I'm proud of many more things that Labour have done. I assume you are some kind of backward nationalist sassenach hater so you will no doubt have the benefit of never disagreeing with any of your party's policies.

Dear Terry,
I have been an SNP member for 20 years. My grandparents were from Wiltshire, and my wife's from Liverpool. I watch East Enders, and like Yorkshire pudding. Are you seriously saying I'm anti-English? Are you seriously saying the SNP are racists?
In that case, why haven't they thrown me out? Talk sense man.
Comparing the SNP to the Nazis is sick. The Norwegians chose independence, are they nazis too?

You use the word sassenach not me.

You think that the SNP is no different from the past European nationalist movements - well if you really want to stoop to that level of debate - a lot of these movements also had the word Socialist in their titles.

Of course I disagree with some of my party's policies but at least I get the chance to vote for or against policies at a proper conference and if I was ever in a party that had the blood of thousands of innocent people on it's hands I would resign no matter how much good it had done elsewhere.

That's because I'm involved in politics based on principles not self -interest.
If you really must know who I am, I'm the organiser of East Ren SNP.

Dear anonymous, methinks you doth protest too much - you sound like some kind of secular saint. I fear you also suffer from delusions of grandeur if you think that being the organiser of East Renfrewshire SNP makes you recognisable, I hope this is not too damaging to your obviously large ego but I still haven't a clue who you are !

Your attitude just shows how low standards are in the Labour party if you think that a stance based on the principle of not wishing not take collective resposibility for mass murder is worthy of sainthood.

I was under the impression that you wanted to know who I am - I could have given you my name - Andrew Kidd - but you still wouldn't have been any the wiser who I was.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

Dear anonymous you're off to a bad start if you hide your identity - the SNP are anti English it's their raison d'e-tre, it used to be 'English B-------' this and 'English B------- that' now it's the dissemblers and fainthearts who have bottled it and now cower behind 'orders from down south' and 'London rule' or 'our London masters etc.'quite pathetic really but it's still true Scotland is as racist as anywhere else and the SNP refuse to admit it - I agree with Albert Einstein who said "nationalism is the measles of the planet earth" but then again what did he know, he wasn't even Scottish.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

Anonymous Andrew Kidd I won't rehearse the arguments indefinately with you I've better things to do, but you are right about one thing I still haven't a clue who you are, but perhaps you could solve a mystery for me. Why is Alex Salmond your party leader ? Swinney got the mallet for losing an election, other party leaders don't survive lost elections but he has lost more than anyone why is this ? is there really, as we all suspect no-one else ? and if you think you are in a democratic party you should read the accounts of Salmond's reaction to Mike Russell's book i.e. change the book or I (not the party) but me, I will remove you as a candidate ! SNP democracy my a--- as that great Englishman Jim Royle would say.

We have indeed lost a lot of elections due to the support that the Labour Party got from Robert Maxwell and Rupert Murdoch and all the other millionaires Labour sold Honours to. Hows that for subverting democracy?

How many votes were there in Oban this week?

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

Anonymous coward - what was the question again ? oh yes Salmond, the great leader and his version of democracy. Is there an answer in there somewhere among the wriggling ?

Sir-C4' said...

By sheltering and shielding terrorists from justice, the Palestinian people have chosen terrorism against the Jewish community instead of libertarian democracy.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

c4' The world is familiar with the image of a Palestinian boy throwing stones at an Israeli tank, the war criminals can't win in the long run, they don't have justice on their side and the world knows that. Peace and justice will some day return to Palestine.

Anonymous said...

Your continuing use of abuse rather than any attempt to address your own party's corruption shows that you really have no answers.
Only questions based on "accounts" published by your millionaire friends in the media.

anonymous Andrew Kidd - you don't seem able to make an informed comment on my article on Palestine - that will be because it's not Scotland. Stick to blaming everything on the hated English that's what Scottish Nationalism is all about, stray away from that and you embarrass yourself even more - let's hear it for 'our London masters' or 'southern rule' or 'dictats from the south' crude obvious disguise for the same old anti English rhetoric which makes decent Scots everywhere cringe. You lot really need to wise up and join the human race!
