IF THERE IS SUCH A THING AS AN SNP MEMBER WITH A SHRED OF HONESTY AND AN OUNCE OF BACKBONE, CAN HE/SHE ANSWER THIS POST FOR ME?.

Am I getting this right?

Between 2007 and 2011 the tories kept the snp minority government in power at Holyrood. The snp and alex salmond are now going to join the tories in an alliance to keep the UK in the European Union in the upcoming EU Referendum.

During the Scottish independence referendum however, Labour, Tories and BTW The Communist Party were on the same side and supported a NO vote. This was described by the snp as “getting in to bed with the tories”. The question now becomes rather obvious does it not? are the snp now “getting in to bed with the tories” when they join them in the EU referendum?.

I should not really need to ask this question but I don’t think there is an snp member with the honesty or the courage to ask it for me. Any takers?.

I'm not an SNP member but I'd be interested in your party's stance on whether or not they wish the UK to remain in the EU. I don't like any party joining the tories but the SNP have consistently said they want Scotland to be in the EU.

snp member or not you seem like them to be unable to answer my question. Labour consistently said they wanted to remain as part of the UK. Want to try again?.

Alex said he would campaign alongside Tories and others. He did not say he would jump with glee when businesses said they would decamp from Scotland, disparage SNP supporters, lie about economic matters, approve of Tory policies on immigration, welfare, etc, etc. Don't try and compare support for the EU with the despicable campaign fronted by Labour members prior to the referendum. I can only imagine what any future EU campaign will be like but I doubt if anyone will end up afterwards considering the SNP as a political party providing a front for the financial and landed 'elite' of the UK and the despised Tory Party.

Take your blinkers of Terry.

i'll condemn the SNP if I see them sharing a platform with the Tories, you know like when Darling presented at the Tory conference.....or when recently Lab and Tory shared a tent when canvassing on the high street....

Your argument is nonsense....the issue for Labour is they are buying into the neocon conservative narrative and have been pushed out of their safe ground on the left by pandering to middle England.

Balls said he would change NOTHING of recent Tory budget, so guess what, the English just voted Tory as the policies were the same and Tory leadership were believed to be more believable as Tories.

I am now really looking forward to Scottish Labour splitting from the British Labour Party as you will have to come out on one side and will be left stranded like a beached whale.

I haven’t heard any condemnation from snp supporters for their collusion with the tories between 20 07 and 20 11 and using your own criteria the snp are now “in bed with the tories” and helping them with their shared referendum goal. Was Sturgeon on the side of the tories when she told the French ambassador she wanted Cameron to win?. People like you are the ones I’m talking about when I say there aren’t any of you with any honesty or backbone, you are pathetic.

Manchester MP Gerald Kaufman described the new SNP intake as 'goons' and their behaviour as 'infantile'

"goons" as in WW2 Nazis. Correct.

Really councillor, believing and even worse, referring to the Daily Hail, how's that part of the socialist playbook.

Did you believe them when they were monstering Ed ?

We know it's right wing batcrappery, you know it's right wing batcrappery, but as long as it monsters the SNP it's ok !

Nope, not in my book

Robert said...

You've lost me with this argument. I'm not an SNP member but can remember them arguing for continued EU membership prior to the referendum. Labour weren't even proposing to offer an in/out referendum had they won the election so you could equally suggest the SNP are supporting Labour policies.
The SNP appear to me to be consistent in their continued support of EU membership and not opposing for the sake of oposing.

quick question Terry, how many snp mp's have been jailed for fraudulently claiming expenses, from both the commons and the lords?

Quick answer for you Terry.
The SNP will campaign to remain in the EU. They will not be used by the Tory's to lie cheat and defraud the Scottish public and will consequently not die as a political force in Scotland.
RIP scottish labour.

The snp will join forces with the tories to remain in Europe just as Labour joined forces with the Tories to remain in the UK. Apart from your usual persecution complex there is absolutely no difference.

Terry,
As I said. When I see them sharing a stage or presenting at each others conference I'll condone it. If they both support EU membership that is not some grand coalition.

I think SNP have been very open about blocking Tories at Westminster and have said they will block any budget containing austerity cuts. This is not something Labour have done in last parliament and as I highlighted previously.

Your tribal hatred of SNP is fine, the bending of the facts is less than honourable.

You are completely 100% devious. I did not say the snp were in bed with the tories that’s what the snp said about Labour and now they are trying to wriggle out of the same situation as Labour were in. Physically sharing a platform does not stand up, you are in the same team, you are right it is not a “grand coalition” and neither was the Better Together campaign.
How has the snp been “open about blocking Tories at Westminster” what have they done?, are you referring to them upsetting seating arrangements, is that it?, they haven’t blocked anything and they won’t for the same reason that Labour were unable to block anything they and we did not have the votes to block anything, is that over your head?.
“The bending of facts is less than honourable” Then stop doing it.

Your wish is my command

Nicola Sturgeon has insisted she has no plans to share platforms with David Cameron or George Osborne as part of the campaign to stay within the European Union.

The SNP leader said she hoped figures other than politicians would come to the fore of the debate and said she would not be campaigning alongside the Prime Minister or Chancellor for a “Yes” vote in the referendum on EU membership promised by the end of 2017.

Speaking on Sky News’s Murnaghan programme, Ms Sturgeon said: “Well I’ve got no plans to share platforms with David Cameron or George Osborne or anybody else in the Conservative Party.

“I’ll make a case as leader of the SNP, as First Minister of Scotland, based on my belief that Scotland’s interests and, I would argue, the UK’s interests, are best served by being within the European Union.

“I hope we see many non-politicians come to the fore of this debate as well and make the positive case for Scotland and the UK remaining within the European Union.

“Yes, I’ve been perfectly open about the imperfections of the European Union, about the flaws and the deficiencies of the European Union as it currently is, but arguing the case for sensible reforms and also arguing the case that our economic interests are best served by being within.”

Ms Sturgeon also told the show: “I think what is dangerous about the approach David Cameron is taking right now is that he is taking the UK perilously close to the exit door and I think that’s wrong.”

Your attempt to complicate this matter simply illustrates your blatant dishonesty. It is not complicated at all, Labour and the tories were on the same side on the Independence debate and the snp and the Tories are on the same side on the EU debate. 'ergo' if Labour were 'in bed with the tories' as you have said then the snp are 'in bed with the tories now'.

How many snp politicians have been involved in cheating on their expenses is a far more honest question. I have no idea how many snp MSP's have been jailed for beating up their wives. I would like however to know the reasoning if there is any, behind such questions?. Can you give me that?.

Terry this idiot is on your side he was trying to counter my question about non SNP MP's being jailed for fiddling expenses by bringing up Bill Walker.

This is what your brand of politics breeds, he is you friend.

In answer to your response to the idiot, do you really want to start making lists of expense cheaters? really?

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

I treated the question with caution because the Walker case is so obvious and my normal response to comparisons of MP's cheating on expenses and how many went to jail is that it is irrelevant and typical snp drivel. It doesn't matter how many went to jail or how much money was swindled what matters is that MP's from all parties were guilty. You should consider how obvious you are.

Goes to show what a bunch of outright hypocrites the SNP are, not only on their stance on nuclear weapons... https://devolutionmatters.wordpress.com/2012/10/22/guardian-comment-is-free-piece-on-the-snp-nato-and-nuclear-weapons/

The SNP are now saying that if the UK votes to leave the EU but Scotland votes to stay in the EU then that could trigger another vote by Scotland to have another independence referendum as Scotlands voice must be heard, REALLY!!!...What about the scots who lived outside of Scotland and who were DENIED a vote by the SNP at the last independence referendum!, they had NO say, yet they would have had to live in an independent Scotland on returning home having been DENIED a vote by the SNP...What a bunch of outright hypocrites the SNP are!!!, a case of "Do as I say, not as I do".

Running Man said...

So Labour confirm they will vote with the Tories around excluding resident EU citizens from voting on EU refeendum. SNP will oppose such a restriction and so vote against the Tory/Labour pact......

Same old Tories, regardless of colour. The most malignant force in British politics is this xenophobic right wing agenda that is mainly driven by the press. It seems to have Labour in its grip just as tight as it has the Tories...In the same hand and working hand in hand you could say.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

Running Man said..Wednesday, June 03, 2015 6:56:00 a.m.

Where was this pact announced and by whom? If Labour and the Tories were ‘forming a pact’ to exclude resident EU citizens from voting in the EU referendum then the snp and the Tories and Labour are also forming a pact to support EU membership in the EU referendum. The snp and Labour using your reasoning are forming a pact to allow 16 year olds to vote in the Euro referendum as well. None of these “pacts” as you choose to call them as I have already explained to you are political just as the independence referendum was not political, a political pact is when parties agree to work together in a political alliance like the snp and the Tories in Holyrood between 2007 and 2011. .

Running Man said...

In the end Labour voted with Tories to exclude 16/17 year olds and to exclude EU citizens......So no pact on this with SNP at all.....Full alignment of Better Together in Westminster. You can't even see the join now.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

Can you give details of this?.

Apologies , Labour abstained the 16/17 year old vote. If they voted YES the Tories would have been defeated but clearly the Tories are no longer the enemy for Labour.

SNP voted for 16/17 year olds to get EU vote, Labour abstained...A habit these days as you have no real policy or direction

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

Apologies for lies, can't you ever tell the truth?. Is it not about time you started working on the snp's problems, mismanagement of money, the continuing scandal of the snp supporters behaviour, selling the Highland Ferries service to their tory pals. Apart from making fools of themselves what have the snp done at Westminster so far?.

Running Man said...

Not quite sure its a lie but if it makes you happy.

I can say what the SNP are doing that Labour are not and its actually bothering to turn up and vote.....While Labour continue to lie in the no mans land and stare at the sky looking for a policy.

The Calmac privatisation/tender process is forced due to EU law, same thing happened previously under Labour/Libdem administration...See attached.

Labour use the ‘pairing system’ it’s clearly too complicated for you but it means they can miss a vote when they need to without their opponents gaining an advantage while when the snp miss a vote which is quite regularly their opponents do gain an advantage, is that difficult for you to understand?.

“The Calmac privatisation/tender process is forced due to EU law” (running man.)

“the sale of Calmac to the private sector is not privatisation” (Derek Mackay) snp Minister for Transport and the Islands.

Will you manage on your own or will you need help to remove your foot from your mouth?.

I have no idea if they did but even so it was hardly going to bring down a government was it like the snp 'circa' 1979. I'm not sure what you are talking about but I am talking about this.

“The Calmac privatisation/tender process is forced due to EU law” (running man.)

“the sale of Calmac to the private sector is not privatisation” (Derek Mackay) snp Minister for Transport and the Islands.

Who has got it right?, is it privatisation as you say or is it not privatisation as snp transport minister Mackay says?. You now have both feet in your mouth it seems, not a lot of people outside of the snp can do that.

Running Man said...

Sorry Terry, so you accept now that Labour were not pairing.....They were in fact abstaining. Never mind the whataboutery from Holyrood.

You asked what are the SNP doing, they are voting. Labour are not voting and so not doing their job. The fact it doesn't bring down the government is a red herring. Does your party have a job to do in opposition or not.

Your excuses around 'pairing' shows you to be an all believing stooge.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

My knowledge comes from being chief whip of the Labour Group for 7 years where does yours come from?. I will give you one more chance to answer my post timed at 12.06. I'm getting the impression that you want be to delete you.

Wonder if you understand what a Minority Government is. Of course consensus would be needed with other parties. They couldn't pass anything on their own. They tried to work with all parties involved in Holyrood. Work, as in what a Government should do.

Except of course for the Bain Principle where Labour vote down anything put forward by the SNP, I believe the Bain Principle is the only principle Labour have in Scotland.

There will be no joining of the Scottish National Party and the Conservative and Union Party in the EU IN/OUT referendum. Which is where Labour made their mistake during IndyRef1.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

A minority government is a government which does not have a majority right?. If you check the voting records of the 2007 to 2012 Holyrood snp minority government what you will see is a 'de facto' political coalition between the snp and the tories. The now retiring then; tory leader Annabelle Goldie recently revealed very publicly that a deal was done between the snp and the tories to keep the snp minority government in power without a formal agreement. The price extracted for this chicanery by the tories from the treacherous snp was the passing of tory legislation. This was another mendacious betrayal of the Scottish people by the snp. The Scottish people will eventually spit them out.
