1 pm, July 27th. 2011 to the house of shame on the banks of the River Cart for a full meeting of Renfrewshire Council.
It was evident from the conduct of the SNP/Libdem coalition that they came in mad as hell. This is becoming more and more noticeable as we get closer to the Council Elections and motions are put condemning their actions, choices and priorities. Their reactions to criticism suggest that they fear a reckoning with the electorate which they know will bring up the things they have done to pensioners, school children and the most vulnerable in our society.
A strong contender for top of the public's hit list would certainly be the most awful Convener of Education in living memory SNP Cllr. Lorraine Cameron. She has presided over the most appalling attacks on education that I have seen, the fact that she is obviously completely out of her depth and willing to sign up to anything put before her by the officers is no excuse. I know her well enough to know that she is no fool which means she has washed her hands of responsibility and just taking the money. I know her to be a smart woman so I have to ask myself why someone like her would agree to the demented Primary School proposals, go figure.
The savage cuts to Social Work provision would put Convener Libdem Cllr. Eileen McCartin right up there next to her, to this day she robustly defends cuts in schools music provision, the removal of School busses, the removal of busses for people with learning difficulties, the withdrawal of Grants for pensioners Christmas Dinners and Pantomime Trips and much more including the aforementioned attempt to withdraw teachers from Primary Schools and replace them with unqualified staff, yes she stands by that as well. The anger and vile behaviour stems from the fact that they know that we will be reminding the voters of their record when the time comes.
The following two motions to council were put by the Labour Group.
1/ Demanding that the SNP/Libdem Council withdraw their decision to take away free travel from people with Learning Difficulties travelling to their Adult Training Centres, the SNP/Libdem Coalition lost the debate but won the vote and the cuts will take place. This Council gave senior officers on salaries of £80,000/£90,000 rises of 23% meaning some officers got more in an annual rise than low paid workers get for an annual salary, they also spent more on Christmas lights, Fireworks and bringing the Mod to Paisley than it cost to provide the free travel for those with Learning Difficulties. It is as we in the Labour Group said today a matter of priorities, compare them for yourself; fireworks or free travel for those with learning Difficulties, you decide when the local elections come round.
2/ A motion criticizing the Council for spending £6,700 on commissioning a feasibility study for a statue of William Wallace, seen by the SNP as a Scottish Hero and by many others, eminent scholars and historians included as 90% fiction but; remember the SNP motto "It might be rubbish but at least it's good old Scottish rubbish" Councillor Nicolson at this point made one of his priceless interjections to tell us all about Scottish culture and how we (Labour) did not understand it. What the cultural attaché for Renfrewshire (Nicolson) meant of course was Scottish culture, ye cannae beat it right? him and the ludicrous Libdem McCartin went on to tell us how great a sculptor Sandy Stoddart was he is (our local sculptor) come to think of it I don't think he has any rivals, does anyone out there know another local sculptor? Still being the only one does not maen he is not great, a genious by all accounts and world famous. Visited by pilgrims from all four corners of the world, I thought at one point they were describing a Scottish Jacob Epstein or the reincarnation of Michelangelo.
Alas when I invited Nicolson and McCartin and the rest of the coalition to name 3 of Mr. Stoddarts works they were predictably unable to do so, still don't worry Mr. Stoddart time is on your side. What does this tell us? particularly about the SNP? This is the kind of bogus positions taken by the nationalists, and this c**p leads to Robert Burns being superior to Shakespeare, Sean Connery better than Lawrence Olivier and John Byrne a greater painter than Vincent Van Gogh It's puerile, it's embarrassing and it's Scottish Nationalism at its 'kailyard' worst.

"It is as we in the Labour Group said today a matter of priorities"
Talking of Labour priorities, perhaps we should remind ourselves that this is the party that defended their MP Jim Sheridan for charging the public for the following luxury items for his flat.
Luxury Ivory Leather bed with memory foam mattress - £991
Two seater sofa bed - £829 - some luxury for his guests
3 seater sofa - £699 - to keep the other sofa company
Table lamp - £199 (yes that is one hundred and ninety nine pounds-twice what a pensioner gets for a week in total state pension)
Coffee table - £219 - Needed somewhere to put the fancy lamp I think!!
New shower - £1280
42" Plasma TV - £700
Painting and decorating - £1200
Mortgage interest - £924 PER MONTH
Yes it is all a question of priorities and when it comes down to Labour it would seem that living in luxury at the expense of the public is very important!!!!
You fail to tell your readers that if the Wallace statue goes ahead then it will be privately funded.
Therefore the town gets a major tourist attraction for £6700 total.
Only a dimwit such as yourself and your thicket Labour colleauges would condemn such a move.
It is clear that you want to keep the town of Paisley down.
How much did Labour spend on the ridiculous fountain in County Square that eventually had to be pulled down and taken away.
Now there was a spectacular waste of money by non other than.
THE LABOUR PARTY - We waste money better than anyone else!

You forgot to mention Alex (the spiv) Salmond’s £800 claim for food allowances for being in London ocer a two month period when Parliament was in recess but, this is what I expected. You want to discuss anything except what I wrote in the Post. That is because you can’t defend the indefensible, tell us what your priorities are, is it Fireworks or free Travel for people with Learning Difficulties? It’s not a trick question. You could try pay rises of 23% for senior officers who were already on £80,000/£90,00 a year or Free Travel for people with Learning Difficulties, you people made these deliberate choices now let’s see you justify them. Just what kind of morals do you people have?
And even with the officer pay rises, they still get paid less than the officers in neighbouring Labour councils!
By Ronnie on LABOUR FIGHT FOR THE VULNERABLE WHILE THE SNP DESE... at 10:35
I suppose it’s too much to ask you to stick to the issue here? Can you point to anywhere in my post where I criticized the proposed statue? I criticized the spending of £6,700 at a time when people with Learning difficulties are having free travel to their Adult Training Centres taken from them, that is the choice of the SNP and you and it is immoral. As far as I am concerned Free Travel for people less fortunate than ourselves to their Adult Training Centres is a priority but obviously not for people like you, just what kind of people would choose those priorities anyway?
I don’t normally criticize people for making mistakes when they write to me but, since you have decided to call me a “dimwit” I suggest that you be a bit more circumspect before you press the send key.

Very predictable and completely irrelevant. When choices have to be made about spending Council Tax Payers money we have seen the following.
Cuts in music tuition for our pupils or funding the Mod? – SNP/Libdems choose the Mod.
Improving pupil teacher ratios or buying Fireworks? – The SNP/Libdems choose Fireworks.
Providing School transport or paying a Pop Singer to switch on lights? SNP/Libdems choose the Pop Singer.
Withdrawing Council Grants for pensioners Christmas dinners and Theatre trips or paying Council Officers on £80,000/£90,000 a year rises of 23%? - the SNP/Libdems choose to pay the rises.
Maintaining free travel for people with Learning Difficulties or spending £6,700 on a feasibility study for a Wallace monument? – The SNP/Libdems choose the monument study. There’s plenty more.
Did you know that when Alex (the spiv) Salmond visited Renfrewshire Council to open the new building someone discovered that the serviettes laid out in neat triangles at the bash were just that, serviettes, nice wee white ones. Someone from the military wing of the SNP saw this and exploded. A Council vehicle was immediately dispatched to a shop in Edinburgh to fetch a supply of serviettes with a saltire design, no I’m not making this up. It’s the kind of priorities which matter to the SNP and their Libdem lap dogs. I ask again, what kind of people are you, what kind of morals guide people like you?
Why is it irrelevant.
You are criticising the Renfrewshire Council for making cuts but in neighbouring Glasgow City Council, Labour are slashing 13 million pounds from Disabled Peoples Services whilst maintaining some of the highest paid council officers in the uk.
Just a fact Terry.
These Council Officers, the ones pulling the strings... weren't they inherited from the previous administration?
Looks like Labour made some selection mistakes, laddie... couldn't the interview panel recognise them as raving, power crazed, egomaniacs?
how are you going to fund all these campaings you are supporting????
I thought that people with learning difficulties received a DLA mobility allowance to cover the cost of travelling to and from their training centres.
If this is the case then why is free transport necessary when the money is already being provided to pay for it?
By Anonymous on LABOUR FIGHT FOR THE VULNERABLE WHILE THE SNP DESE...
It is irrelevant because we are dealing with Renfrewshire’s SNP/Libdem Council. It’s no surprise that you are running away from this it is one of the lowest things you people have done even by SNP standards.
By Anonymous on LABOUR FIGHT FOR THE VULNERABLE WHILE THE SNP DESE...
This is probably as dumb a response as I’ve had for years. Please concentrate, the point is that the officers running this council are doing so because of the ineptitude and cowardice of the SNP/Libdem coalition. They are afraid to stand up to them, remember the 23% rise? Officers would never have dared to come to a Labour administration and asked for that but the Grovelling SNP/Libdems gave them it.
By fred goodwin on LABOUR FIGHT FOR THE VULNERABLE WHILE THE SNP DESE...
We have different priorities and different moral values from the SNP/Libdems, let me give you a hint the additional costs spent on more Fireworks, Pop stars switching on lights and paying for the Mod would have been enough to pay for the travel needs of people with learning difficulties, that’s before we consider other trivia like Saltire Serviettes and feasibility studies for a monument and there are plenty more. We will look at things differently and we won’t be told by officers what priorities we should use.
By Anonymous on LABOUR FIGHT FOR THE VULNERABLE WHILE THE SNP DESE... at 10:23
You really can’t avoid the issue here by muddying the water. The people with learning difficulties have been receiving free travel and a nominal wage of £2.50p a week both have been withdrawn by this shameless and immoral SNP/Libdem coalition. It’s a question of decency and standards of behaviour both sadly lacking in people like you.
What kind of moral fibre does someone have when they can justify taking provision from people with learning difficulties and spending money on Saltire serviettes? Just what kind of people are you?
Kelly @ 11.03
So Labour did appoint those overpaid council officers, then, without recognising they were a set of self serving chancers, just waitin to run amok with the Council Tax
As I said... selection mistakes, laddie... were you, perchance on the interview panel?
Source the 'Saltire Serviettes' please
I am not muddying the waters at all.
I am merely clarifying a point which I have now checked an found to be correct.
People with learning difficulties receive a DLA mobility allowance which is given to cover the cost of travelling to and from their centres. It is not a wage.
When this cost is alraedy covered then why should free transport be provided?
By Anonymous on LABOUR FIGHT FOR THE VULNERABLE WHILE THE SNP DESE... on 29/
I have answered this, you are either missing the point or telling lies but, being a patient man I will explain it for the last time.
Labour unlike the SNP/Libdem coalition are capable of governing and telling the officers what will be done not the other way round. The SNP/Libdems are spineless and incompetent and consequently they are quite happy to do as they are told it’s an abdication of responsibility. That’s why we see free travel being taken from people with Learning Difficulties and attempts to replace teachers with unqualified staff.
By Anonymous on LABOUR FIGHT FOR THE VULNERABLE WHILE THE SNP DESE... on 29
I certainly will not but; here is a suggestion for you if you think I am telling lies then say so in public and I will take it from there, well?
By Anonymous on LABOUR FIGHT FOR THE VULNERABLE WHILE THE SNP DESE... on 30/
You are not debating with the Brigadoon Teuchters glee club now.
Here are some facts “that winna ding” for you.
1/ People with Learning Difficulties were in receipt of free travel.
2/ The SNP/Libdem coalition made a conscious choice to remove that free travel from these vulnerable people.
Your squirming about DLA is not relevant, the only thing relevant is the SNP/Libdem’s pitiless and immoral decision to yet again punish people less well off than ourselves. You are bringing shame on yourselves, Renfrewshire Council and Scotland, no wonder Scots. are known the world over for tight fisted stinginess .
So you can't substantiate your 'Saltire Serviettes' post.
Another fact that wiilnae ding, Councillor?
By Anonymous on LABOUR FIGHT FOR THE VULNERABLE WHILE THE SNP DESE... at 16:45
That should be ‘winna’ you should get drummed out of the SNP for that, then again none of them would get the reference either.
If you don’t believe me then call me a liar, what’s stopping you? apart from the usual SNP cowardice.
Go on Terry, fire away. blacklegs, strike breakers, Red Ed (Up the workers (literally)) Miliband speaks. Didn't you vote for him???
"The Labour leader said the strikes were "wrong" because negotiations with the government were still ongoing.
He said his MPs should turn up for work as normal on Thursday despite the picket lines outside Parliament"
By Anonymous on LABOUR FIGHT FOR THE VULNERABLE WHILE THE SNP DESE... on 30/06/11
You display a laughable lack of any idea of how politics works, I don’t control Milliband and I don’t agree with what he said about the strike but I do know why he said it. Have you got any idea why he said what he did as did Swinney of the SNP? Have you got the tiniest clue?
Kelly, Ive fought the temptation and lost...You are a proven liar.
You said HRH Pr Philip was a waste of space, owing any fame to his position. He attended a school that would have had Glasgow hard men screaming for mercy, got a MinD for courage at Cape Matapan and kick started the Award Scheme You lied
You said drugs in sport were not sanctioned at government level by Eastern Bloc governments. STASI records say otherwise. You lied.
You said Pr Williams only claim to fame was ferrying his brother to a stag night in a very expensive helicopter. He puts his life on the line in a RAF Search and Rescue helicopter. You lied.
There are many other instances, but I'm bored with you, wee man and cant be bothered
I see your old sparring partner Derek Mackay will be writing a political column in the News of the World for a week whilst the usual columnist is on holiday.
By Anonymous on LABOUR FIGHT FOR THE VULNERABLE WHILE THE SNP DESE...
If you want to soak up the Royal Propaganda then go ahead, likewise the anti communist hysteria, it simply means you are a gullible fool.
Prince William is a product of the same privileged and corrupt background he will live a life of Luxury at our expense just like the rest of his inbred half witted family, I’ve been in more dangerous situations than him in the local pub.
By Anonymous on LABOUR FIGHT FOR THE VULNERABLE WHILE THE SNP DESE... at 10:26
If ever there was a marriage made in heaven it is Derek Mackay and the News of the World.
Anti communist propaganda? Councillor, I'll break it to you gently, but you'd still better sit down... the STASI were the East German secret police, Honecker's Own...more communist than Stalin and it's their records I quoted.
Isn't it a bugger when facts get in the way of a good prejuduce
By Anonymous on LABOUR FIGHT FOR THE VULNERABLE WHILE THE SNP DESE... at 13:29
The Stasi eh? Secret police you say, who would have thought that that one up? Not much gets past you does it?
You clearly take an interest in this stuff, have you ever heard of organisations like the CIA, FBI, CI5, CI6? Lovely chaps all of them, they used to run Gala days for children during the war and concert parties as well, help old ladies across the road; that kind of thing, as I said you are a gullible fool.
I'm sure you're right about MI5,6 and 7 and there could be some truth in what you say about the CIA and FBI. not forgetting the Deuxieme Bureau.
Fascinating though your reply is, it avoids the issue - or, being the original thinker that you are, are you suggesting the STASI falsefied their records to make the regime look bad?
By Anonymous on LABOUR FIGHT FOR THE VULNERABLE WHILE THE SNP DESE... on 03/07/11
“are you suggesting the STASI falsefied their records to make the regime look bad?”
Actually I haven’t read this but I’m not that concerned by such claims, what I am suggesting is that it is meaningless to try to unravel what these organisations did and why.
I know that gullible people would like it to be so and would like to believe that the GDR sanctioned drug taking but so what, did we? Did America? The salient fact which explains their success was access to facilities and coaches for all and free at that. The first man to run a 4 minute mile was Doctor Roger Bannister while an Oxbridge student he is rightly remembered for it but think about this.
The late Jimmy Reid addressing a meeting of approx 5,000 workers mentioned Bannister’s achievement and asked them to raise their hands if they had ever owned a pair of proper spiked running shoes and there wasn’t a single hand raised. If 5,000 hands had been raised would it be possible that someone might have beaten Bannister to the post? There is a message in there for you and it backs up the success of the GDR athletes.
As a parent with a child with learning difficulties who attends Greensyde, I can say thank god for Eileen McCartin. Labour planned to close our centre . Eileen ensured there would be a new centre as part of the new Linwood Sports Centre. I would rather not pay the new transport charge but cant complain when I see the benefits my daughter will be
What did you vote for Mr kelly???
By Anonymous on LABOUR FIGHT FOR THE VULNERABLE WHILE THE SNP DESE... on 04/07/11
I find this impossible to believe as well as being quite disturbing. If you want to discuss this and you do have a daughter with learning difficulties then write to me or come and see me at a surgery. If you are genuine why are you anonymous?
Sir, I am confused! the SNP is on such a high, yet at the local Council By-Election, in the ward cluster that contained the safest SNP in Renfrewshire, yet the Labour Party's Roy Glen got elected, was it because the SNP'S candidate, that weirdo Dave McCartney was standing or that Roy Glen was just the better man of the two, I here even in SNP circles McCartney is seen a weirdo who seeks public office at any cost, I wonder if the SNP will select him for the same ward cluster in 2012.
I don’t think Mr Adam will be any good for Paisley; he is only interested in having his picture
Taken at St Mirren Football Club, he has done nothing for Paisley south, absolutely nothing,
Come 2012 the SNP will have been in charge of the Council for five years, yet I can’t think
Of a single positive thing that they have done for Paisley, as for his counterpart Mrs Cameron,
You can’t meet a more bone idle and lazy person that her, I’m still waiting for her to call me back that was three years ago, I eventfully went to Cllr Green who helped after Cllr Cameron made me see red. No doubt she will appear next May with or without her driving licence.
I hope and pray that the Labour Party take control of the Council next year, so my message to you
And your colleagues is simple “get the Nats out”.
Here's hoping!
By Anonymous on LABOUR FIGHT FOR THE VULNERABLE WHILE THE SNP DESE... on 07/08/11
I think you have written to me before and you make some interesting and accurate observations on the SNP. I have a question for you though, were you ever bitten by this guy McCartney as a child? We will be going after them don’t worry about that.
