Am I the only one wondering how Alex (the spiv) Salmond and the SNP are feeling right now and over the past week or two following the horrific events surrounding Celtic manager Neil Lennon, Trish Godman MSP, Paul McBride QC and Brian Wilson ex Labour MP and cabinet minister?
We all know by now that all four have been targeted by some demented bigot or bigots who sent them parcel bombs which; according to Police were designed to and capable of causing serious injury and even death. We also know why they were targeted, it's because all four are prominent supporters of Glasgow Celtic FC. This is Scotland Alex! 2011, a country rife with sectarian and racist poison, it's time you admitted it and tackled it instead of denying it, stop telling us what a wonderful country we live in and start telling the truth. I will come back to this.
This is the country described by the crass and blustering Justice Minister SNP MSP Kenny McKaskill as "compassionate" when he released the Lockerbie Bomber (a correct decision) which he made a mess of, let me repeat what I said about him then. There is no such thing as a compassionate country it is a stupid and chauvinistic insult to claim such crap, people can be compassionate; countries can't. A couple of weeks ago this same utter clown described the Celtic Rangers Cup Final as a show piece for Scottish Football when everyone who was at the game or heard it on radio or saw it on TV knew that the atmosphere was once again polluted by sectarian racist chanting and singing throughout, this guy is a figure of fun but dangerous, he should not be allowed near any position of influence or power.
Alex (the spiv) Salmond saw personal advantage and acted instinctively to exploit it he jumped in and organised a summit which he of course chaired, who else with an election approaching, it doesn't get any lower. This is the same man who withdrew funding from organisations which were set up by the last labour Government to tackle sectarianism and racism in Scotland, organisations such as "Nil by Mouth" If Salmond really cared about such things he would curb his and his members language which continues to be anti English and dangerous, we live in a country where someone can be attacked for having an English accent and Salmond (the spiv) and the SNP encourage it. It used to be the fault of England and the English for everything that they saw as wrong. That became too obvious and thuggish and has now become 'London rule' rather than English rule, 'down south' rather than England and 'Westminster orders' rather than English orders but the meaning is the same. As long as the SNP continue to use such language they will be responsible for making the streets dangerous for those with English accents and they will continue to shame Scotland.
Meanwhile Alex (the spiv) Salmond is hoping that he has pulled a fast one and people will not remember how he withdrew funding from the cause he now belatedly is championing, as I said "it doesn't get any lower"
change the subject is it Terry? not interested in poor exploited kiddies any, more?
Voting for tory budget to shut day care centres takes it right out of you and approving pitch charges and fees requires a wee lie down.
can't wait for part 8 of Terrys campaign to bring SNP to their knees

I’m sure you remember your leader Mackay while commenting on the Tory/Libdem British Budget full of savage cuts said “the cuts are about right” you don’t seem bothered about that? I have admitted to voting for the Tory budget because I made a mistake while your leader Mackay has never made any attempt to claim he made a mistake.
I made a mistake by calling a vote wrong he made these remarks during a prepared speech, there was no mistake on his part he believes exactly what he said, why have you nothing to say about that?
Do you agree with your leader Mackay that the Tory/Libdem British Government cuts are “about right” or not? Until you comment I’ll assume that you and the rest of the SNP/Libdems in Renfrewshire agree with Mackay.
Have you nothing to say about wee Alex (the spiv) now facing both ways on Scotland’s racist / sectarian disgrace, just what kind of people are you?
Interesting article in the Guardian on this subject.
I particularly like the following paragraphs
"Most Scots are not football fans; most fans do not support Rangers or Celtic; most Rangers and Celtic fans are not religious bigots. That some Rangers and Celtic fans wind each other up by falsely claiming to have strong religio-ethnic identities which are offended by the equally false religio-ethnic identities of the other side is not a reason for the rest of us to take such ritual posturing as the basis for judging the polity, society and culture of an entire country."
"Scotland's disgrace is not religious bigotry. It is the unthinking way in which sectarianism is assumed."
Over to you!

I am a 62 year old Scottish Catholic of Irish extraction; believe me I don’t need your or the Guardian writer’s opinion. I know from bitter experience, Scotland is a country with a serious problem regarding racism which is anti English, Irish and to a lesser extent Asian/Black, It also has a very obvious problem with anti Catholic sectarianism. People like you deny it because you are part of it.
It took me about 2 minutes to find the 3 articles below there are plenty more if you want to read them.
“is not a reason for the rest of us to take such ritual posturing as the basis for judging the polity, society and culture of an entire country"
Hyperbole and exaggeration is not a strong argument, “the whole country”?
"Scotland's disgrace is not religious bigotry. It is the unthinking way in which sectarianism is assumed”
Either he is unaware of who many of the people he calls ‘unthinking’ are or he is arrogant in the extreme.
All very well and good, but nothing here condemning the sectarian ramblings expressed by Cardinal Keith O'Brien here...
You can't complain about one set of biggots without acknowledging the problem with all sides.
Surely Terry there is no such thing as Irish. Are you not British? along with the British in Northern Ireland of all faiths and none?
Being no such thing as borders just people in TerryWorld therefore there is no Irish.
You are a bigot of the worst kind, you cling on to your ethnicity which you decry, smear and deny others. You clearly believe in national borders and states such as Britain.
You are a rogue, charlatan and serial abuser of Wikipedia for your diseased ego.
"People like you deny it because you are part of it."
You should trademark that sort of uninformed conjecture. It's become the hallmark of this blog.
But, I'm nothing if I'm not reasonable, so come on then tell us all about the terrible hardships you've faced enduring the bitter prejudices of Scotland, where we find Anti-English, anti-Irish, Anti-Black, Anti-Asian and sectarian hatred abounds.
"we live in a country where someone can be attacked for having an English accent and Salmond (the spiv) and the SNP encourage it."
That sounds potentially actionable to me. I'll certainly be passing on your comments.

Cardinal O’Brien is no friend of mine but what he is saying here is not sectarian he is arguing against what he sees as secular attacks on Christianity.
Christianity is very much the religion of the State and I believe that is wrong, I support a change to a secular state where no religion has any power, not until they stand for election anyway.

And you are strong in your views, views which mark you out as one who condones racism and sectarianism, (it might be racism and sectarianism but at least its good old Scottish racism and sectarianism not like that crap English kind) what kind of people are you?

I don’t remember you condemning Scottish racism or Sectarianism or for that matter admitting that it exists so, based on past exchanges I won’t be exchanging much with you. I think I’ve got you about right. A wee while ago I wrote about Scottish sectarianism and I received a post from Jersey from a guy I had not seen or spoken to since school. He said he remembered the same experiences as me when looking for work, said he wouldn’t come back to Scotland if you paid him because of it.

A little while back when various cities were competing to win the right to stage the Olympic Games SNP MSP’s had little flags made which they displayed on their desks with the message “anywhere but London” what kind of people are you?
When you pass on my 'actionable' comments will I get to find out who you are? you cringing coward!
Terry is of Irish extraction everyone but he is British now.
Likes to holiday in the land of his forefathers and finds it agreeable that they took up arms against his beloved British state for their Independence.
but feels Scots are not a real ethnic group like the Irish, they should not even be allowed a peaceful vote on the matter of independence as we are British just like the northern British in Ireland. I presume are not Irish but Brits, even the ones who believe in a united Ireland.
sort out your head Terry, even you know none of it adds up.

British of Irish extraction? – correct, like to holiday in Ireland? – correct, approve the Easter Rising? – correct. Scots. are not a real ethnic group like the Irish? ethnic means, racial: cultural: national: tribal, Scots. are none of these things. An independence vote? I couldn’t care less. Have you noticed that stuff between Ireland and Britain it’s called the sea and it’s a big natural barrier between the 2 countries but these things are becoming more and more meaningless as time passes, perhaps not for people like you though. A united Ireland meant more to me when I was 14 years old and I’m sure the same will apply to you when you get past 14.
There is a stink of sectarian racist poison coming from your words, what kind of people are you?
