The SNP are still dissembling and struggling to admit that they are unable to recruit 1,000 new police officers, Alex Salmond clearly thinks if the Scottish electorate is dense enough to fall for "Alex Salmond for first Minister" there's nae chance of them spotting this wheeze is there ?
Last week, in response to a Parliamentary Question, erstwhile drunken football casual, Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill said: "The Scottish Government has not set a numerical target for the number of police officers that forces should employ." technically correct but, hold on Kenny boy sober up there, the SNP did before the election, remember ? Yesterday, ex friend of the 'king over the water' Jim Sillars, SNP MSP Alex Neil said officers who did not retire after 30 years could now be counted as 'new' officers, (don't panic Pikey, don't panic)
This comes despite the fact the SNP will soon have a budget of £30 billion to spend, more than double what Donald Dewar had available. The SNP made cynical promises before the election they knew they could not keep, remember the 'Alex for first minister' carry on, they have complete contempt for the Scottish people.
The SNP fail over their pledges, Their broken promises continue to be exposed, meanwhile we can look forward to the following, --- emergency caller, ---" we need the police" --- police reception ---"why" ---"a disturbance" ---"how big" --- "what" --- "can we send PC's Sandy n Andy they are retreads but in reasonable nick, Andy's got all his own teeth and Sandy has just had a new pace maker fitted, now now sir there's no need for bad language"

It really does not matter how many police the SNP recruit. The central targets and paperwork the police currently "enjoy" ensure that 60% of each officer's time is spent filling in forms. Put it this way, if an officer starts their shift and immediately makes an arrest they spend the rest of the shift filling in forms and chasing up witnesses, indeed in some cases they then go into overtime. All this and crime is not going down.
Please go and read "Wasting Police Time" for a frontline view.
Second, Kenny may have indeed found himself in the cells for being drunk at the footie (really, he must have felt the urge to be drunk to make the game entertaining), but he has never been sent to jail for attempting to burn down a hotel.
Third, There was a time when during the full council meeting in Renfrewshire (you know, the one you did not attend because you are stabbing your leader in the back) all Paisley officers used to remain in the station. This was because our example of democracy used to regularly descend into boxing.
Should the SNP honour their commitment to more police? Yes, if it was in their manifesto.
Now Terry, are you going to write to Gordon to ask for a referendum on the EU constitution?
(RfS) 15:38 -
"Third, There was a time when during the full council meeting in Renfrewshire (you know, the one you did not attend because you are stabbing your leader in the back)
Do I assume from this lie that you have had enough and you are now trying to get barred, you have no idea why I missed that meeting or where I was and you have chosen to tell a deliberate lie about me, your next comment will tell us.
You DID miss that meeting. If you're suffering a bout of amnesia check with any member of staff or one of your fellow councillors.
As for the reasons why, they're very well known round these parts and you know it.
but you were not at that meeting and the minutes will show that....however, I heard you and your fellow absentee - Cllr Williams - were seen skulking the corridors of the Council's South building that afternoon....
'SNP will have..£30 billion to spend, double Dewars budget."
What percentage of this £30 billion comes from Westminster?
The reason the police are so busy is due to the amount of neds created by the labour party when they were in power.
Why single out Kenny Mac Askill what about your very own Mr West end seldom sober kid. I am not ugly enough to mention names, however cops at a meeting in Paisley's west end between traders and cooncillor Mr G noted his condition, pished!
I thought I would drop in for a look at your site to see if it had improved since bendy wendy has become boss of bosses. No chance!!
You and your lot caused this trouble in Paisley and people know it.
I see your partner in crime manser came out from under his stone to try and con his way out of lying. Nope he didnt manage, I am so looking forward to the next episode. He may be clever enough to con the people of gallowhill for too many years but he has no chance against the legal profession.
I could go on for pages but you and your cronies are not worth it.
He canny stand the council anymore because the Gnat/Glib regime is kicking the cr*p out of the ex 'party of the people' some say it's watching baby seals being clubbed but without the cuteness.
Anyway poor Ian McMillan his neck is in the noose and Kelly et al are going AWOL at council meetings. Wouldn't have happened under Stalin.
(Hannah) 09/11/07- I don't know what you're on about, if you are referring to the council meeting of Nov. 8Th. 07 I did miss it and didn't say anything different.
People from all parties miss meetings all the time, you're not making sense.
Anon - Cllr. Williams missed the meeting we have never said otherwise and we were both in the building in the afternoon.
What point are you trying to make ?
rabbie - 100
(paisley man) 11/11/07-
Can I appeal to you on behalf of the town and people of paisley to stop calling yourself paisley man it's embarrassing to all of us.
(Anonymous) 11/11/07 -
Closing nurseries and sports centres in our poorest areas and lieing about police numbers and class sizes might be your idea of progress but it's not mine.
This is the SNP just starting.
So...Labour got £15b from Westminster to run Scotland whilst the SNP got £30b.
Surely that can't be right, because on that basis, Westminster Labour is twice as supportive of the SNP than it was of Scottish Labour.
What have you done with Henry Crun & Byeck, are they bored or is it 10 years in the Renfrew Gulag for re-education?
(Rabbie) 15:05 -
You have been clearly practising your sums, there might be part of the equation missing though.
(Rabbie) 15:53 -
They are out because I'm not going to allow anyone to tell deliberate lies about me, it is my site after all.
'Part of equation missing?#
rabbie - the time factor.
what sports centres are they closing?
anon - sports centres ? the Apex Centre in where else but Ferguslie.
Let's see Labour shut the Stanely centre in Paisley, that's all right. Closed nurseries and care homes that's ok as well.
but those nasty anti Ferguslie Nats oh dear.
What exactly is Cllr Terry's plans to stop said closure. what campaign are we mounting? Zilch, Zippo, Zip
GET BACK TO WORK AND LAY OFF USING COUNCIL RESOURCES>
You weep and wail about the Apex centre but you are not giving people the full story.
1. The centre is virtually unused.
2. The centre has been allowed to deteriorate during the Labour rule in Renfrewshire that it is now not financially viable to repair, sustain and upkeep.
3. The areas that you weep and wail about have had extremely high levels of investment (to no avail of their problems) during the Labour administration. In fact the facilities in Feguslie are better than anywhere else in Renfrewshire.
Why is the Apex centre need when you have Ferguslie Sports Centre?
So instead of trying to make a petty political goal scoring point, why don't you just stick to the reality and the truth.
I personally feel that the financial investment in these areas has been an exercise in box ticking by the previous administration instead of a real effort to cure the deep rooted problems that they have.
It is about time that some other areas started to benefit in some way from the exorbitant level of council tax that Labour have managed to tally over the the last 10 years.
I for one am delighted to see some investment in other areas, and I think that the new administration are to be commended for this instead of throwing money at facilities in so called deprived areas where the investments are at best unused and most of the time abused
Why do you need 2 Sports Centres in Ferguslie Terry?
Surely this duplication is a waste of taxpayers money. How many other areas have 2 council sports centres on their doorstep?
I know that you would gladly spend all of the council's budget in Ferguslie and Shortroods but isn't it high time that other parts of Renfrewshire are looked after with some investment. It seems that the new council are starting to do that.
Henry and Byeck are Innocent - Down with the Despot Kelly and Censorship. Support the Terry Two.
That will be the Apex centre that the Labour party has kept open at a couple of hundred k a year and will take a quarter of a million pounds to renovate but at the moment is used by only one group?
(Anonymous) 13/11/07 - Labour were right to close Stanely and we also provided a nursery place for every child. And we will fight to keep the |Apex. Now crawl back under your stone Mr, Anon.
did labour not get told 4 years ago that it would take £400,000 to get Apex back up to standard and you did nothing. And given that the nats now feel it is unfixable does labour not take the blame for this one being closed?
***the Apex Centre in where else but Ferguslie.***
That'll be the Apex Centre which noone wanted to use in the nineties? (I know I lived AND worked in Ferguslie Park at the time)
The Apex Centre which has been replaced as a place to hold meetings by the Tannahill Centre?
The Apex Centre which has been replaced as a sports and leisure facility by the Ferguslie Park Sports Centre just down the road?
The Apex Centre which has not been fully utilised for the best part of 2 decades?
That Apex Centre?
(al) I've answered this elsewhere, can you people not at least try to be a bit more subtle.
anon - apex ? you are wrong.
anon - another one ? it will cost in the region of £600,000 while nearly £10,000,000 are being spent in better off areas.
(Political Athesist aka Mutt aka ?) 16:58 -
Nice to see you still don't have a political line to follow - the Apex centre can be renovated at a cost of £600,000 while approx. £10,000,000 is being spent in Ralston and Erskine - did you work as a manual worker in Ferguslie ?
'Labour will fight to keep the Apex Centre.'
Is this just you and Cllr Williams or is your leader, Cllr Mcmillan and the rest of the Labour group involved?
The question is:
Why should any money be spent on an unused building (near enough) whose functions are performed by other facilities in the area?
I suppose you could ask why those new facilities were built in the first place, when the Apex was there to begin with?
***did you work as a manual worker in Ferguslie ?***
Your 2 fellow Councillors Tommy Williams and Mark McMillan were happy to pose in Ralston prior to the election to get votes but now you are as sick as a parrot that the new administration are investing in facilities outwith Ferguslie Park . The truth is Ferguslie Park has first class facilities - Tannahill Centre, Ferguslie Sports Centre,Ferguslie Community Nursery Glen Coats Primary..... The Apex Centre is not well used and your party did nothing while in administration to do anything about the state of the building. Are you worried people will finally see how shortsighted you really are!!!!!
I cannot see any answer from you to the question as to why Ferguslie needs 2 Sports Centres.
Why spend £600,000 to repair this facility when it is virtually unused and unneeded?
Haven't all the other groups using the centre been transferred to Ferguslie Sports Centre?
Why didn't Labour spend the money to upgrade and repair the centre when they were in power instead of letting it rot?
It is clear that you are not interested (and never have been) in the Apex Centre and that you are only trying to blame the new administration for your shortcomings during the time that you were in power.
Why is ther a need to have two Sports centre in Ferguslie.
Is it in case there is a big queue at one then you can mosey on down to the other?
Or is it just more council wastage.
'Did you work as a manual worker in Ferguslie,' raises two questions: How many of your constituents are in employment and how many of them want to be in employment.
Before you start screaming 'ignorant bigotted oppressor of the workers,' I ran a JobClub for four years and kicked off more than a few who took the view 'Why should I work for £100pw when I can get £90 for sitting on my ass.'
And again, before you start screaming, I lost my own job at fiftysix after thirty years service and got up off MY ass to find another (at a lot less money) because I wanted to work.
(Rabbie) 14/11/07 -
The labour group that I'm proud to be a member of, will as always act as a unit which will not be divided, it's called solidarity, you wouldn't understand.
(Political Athesist aka Mutt aka ?) 14/11/07 -
The Apex is not matched by other facilities - the new facilities are used by people from all over, the problem we have is getting access for Ferguslie kids who can't afford to use it.
I guessed you didn't work as a manual worker in Ferguslie, I can't quite put my finger on why.
(buddie) 14/11/07 - You seem to be a bit mixed up here, I don't object to any area getting good facilities I think it should be possible for Ferguslie to get a sum ( now quoted as £400,000 ) when approx. £10,000,000 is being spent elsewhere that looks like bias.
You are right about one thing the new administration will invest in facilities outside Ferguslie sure enough, they will instinctively punish the weakest and the poorest, that's typical of the SNP.
(AL) 09:27 - The figure to repair according to the latest is £400,000 and £10,000,000 is being spent elsewhere. The new sports centre caters only for soccer, the Apex catered for soccer, net ball, basket ball, badminton, tennis, judo, martial arts etc. as well as meeting rooms and other projects, clubs etc.
The centre was closed pending an assessment of repairs which we would have done the SNP are happy to close it along with other facilities in Ferguslie out of spite
(Moira) 12:18 - You should do some work before displaying your ignorance - read my previous response to (AL) and others
(Rabbie) 12:59 - This explains where the hatred and bile come from, you are an embittered failure and you need someone to blame, the great unwashed who don't want to work will fill the bill nicely.
A pathetic collection of ill informed prejudices from someone who can't accept his own short comings. You are sad.
***I think it should be possible for Ferguslie to get a sum ( now quoted as £400,000 ) when approx. £10,000,000 is being spent elsewhere that looks like bias***
A bit like the bias perceived by the rest of Paisley when over the past few decades Ferguslie Park was at the front of the queue for any money going:
1972-77 subject of community development project
1979 - deemed an area for "priority treatment"
1980 - initiation of various community business intiatives
1984-88 - Ferguslie Park area initiative along with a raft of Renfrew District Council housing programmes.
1988 - New Life for Urban Scotland pumped tens of millions into the area, demolishing, refurbishing and placing the community's involvement at its heart for more than a decade
Since 1999, there has been urban programme funding, social inclusion partnership funding, community regeneration funding and mainstream investment.
Some sources claim close to half a billion pounds may have been spent on Ferguslie's regeneration.
If accurate, that would have been enough to turn every one of the 13,500 residents into multi- millionaires!
Compare this to money spent on other "deprived" areas of Paisley over the same timeframe and see how cries of "bias" stack up?
As of October 2006, £22 million was earmarked for community regeneration over the next three years. This predates the current council administration, so obviously the previous incumbents weren't too interested in fixing up the Apex either, given that had a bit more £10mil available.
PA - I've heard this collection of anti Ferguslie prejudices many times before, I believe in helping those who need it most if you don't you should come out and say s, that's the SNP we are seeing now.
Perhaps if all this largesse has been dispensed in Ferguslie you might want to live there, I'll bet you we could find you a house ?
'The great unwashed who dont want to work.'
Cllr. I despise anyone who can work but doesn't.
What are your views?
Re "The Labour group that I'm proud to be a member of."
Word is that your pride in being a member isn't totally reciprocated by their pride in having you. Any comment?
***I've heard this collection of anti Ferguslie prejudices many times before, I believe in helping those who need it most***
***Perhaps if all this largesse has been dispensed in Ferguslie you might want to live there***
Okay another one of those yes/no, either/or questions you seem to hate answering:
Ferguslie Park is a wonderful place to live and bring up children with no more social problems than any other area in Paisley and thus no more needful or deserving of public finance and regeneration money than any other area.
Ferguslie Park is still an area which suffers social issues and problems to a greater scale than the rest of Paisley and is still in greater need of urban, social and economic regeneration.
If the former is true, then surely it is the turn of other Wards with Renfrewshire to benefit for the "largesse" bestowed on Ferguslie?
If the latter is true, one has to ask what has happened to all the money poured into Ferguslie Park over the last 35 years?! Has it been poured down a drain?
The last three and a half decades have seen three Conservative Prime Ministers, four Labour Prime Ministers, three Labour First Ministers and now an SNP First Minister, so there has been a broad spectrum of political influence during this time.
If three and a half decades of social and economic development have not been enough to improve the lot of Ferguslie Park residents, what will be?
(Rabbie) 15/11/07 -
"Cllr. I despise anyone who can work but doesn't."
Perhaps you would like to force them or make them do National Service, that would sort them out right ? I suspect you 'despise' a lot of people ? Care to comment ?
"Re "The Labour group that I'm proud to be a member of."
Word is that your pride in being a member isn't totally reciprocated by their pride in having you. Any comment?" Even for a McArthyite patriot this is a bit obvious.
(Political Athesist aka Mutt aka ?) 15/11/07 -
No wonder you cling to those yes/no questions, you don't get much more dishonest than this.
' Three Conservative leaders, seven Labour leaders and one SNP' What inference can we draw from this I wonder, surely it must be Labour's fault, look at the numbers.
Do you think anyone would actually buy this garbage ? you are a laughing stock, a pathetic attempt to mislead. Anyone could do better than this, you should be embarrassed.
And it's far too long, again.
Would I force the 'wont work' scroungers into employment?
Damn right I would.
Now Cllr, give us your views on able bodied people who are in a position to work, but choose benefits, preferring their bed of a morning, the bookies in the afternoon and the pub at night?
***What inference can we draw from this I wonder, surely it must be Labour's fault, look at the numbers***
I neither implied nor stated anything of the sort, in fact what I did say was "so there has been a broad spectrum of political influence during this time" which any person with a good grasp of the use of the English language in debating would understand as explicitly NOT blaming any particular party, organisation or individual.
Nice attempt at dodging the question though. I take you are going to continue wriggling away from this one as well?
***And it's far too long, again.***
You must have a really short attention span
If the Kenny is a drunken football casual then what does that make Mathew Marr?
(Rabbie) 16/11/07 - How would you go about forcing them to work ? Would you also get the trains to run on time ?
"Now Cllr, give us your views on able bodied people who are in a position to work, but choose benefits, preferring their bed of a morning, the bookies in the afternoon and the pub at night?"
I thought I had made my views on the Royal Family clear before !
(Political Athesist aka Mutt aka ?) 16/11/07 -
"I neither implied nor stated anything of the sort," That's exactly what you did and not very subtly either, did you just accuse me of wriggling away, try taking it on the chin, you can't win them all.
PA - Much better.
***That's exactly what you did and not very subtly either, did you just accuse me of wriggling away, try taking it on the chin, you can't win them all.***
Okay, let's shoot your paranoia down so you answer the question honestly.
Let's ignore the Scottish First Ministers, all the Urban funding was originally implemented by Westminster. Further more, let's ignore the number of PM's invovled.
In terms of years, since 1972 when social development money began pouring into Ferguslie Park there have been 20 years of Conservative government and 15 years of Labour government - so no-one can claim Labour is more to blame.
Given a nearly equal amount of political influence from the left and the right, why does Ferguslie Park still need money poured into it after nearly £0.5Billion over three and a half decades?
How would I force the able bodied idle back to work? Simple, I'd import some of Stalin's better ideas.
Firstly, I'd take away their passports. No more foreign holidays at my expense.
Secondly, I'd make their benefits conditional on reporting to the DHSS at 8am on a daily basis. No more staying in bed at my expense.
Thirdly, if they really are terminally unemployable, I'd make them Councillors.
Now stop wriggling: Do you approve of the able bodied who are able to work, sponging off the state?
sock puppet - McAskill got arrested for being a drunken football casual and went on to become the Scottish Justice minister.
Marr might try joining the SNP and applying for the position of The Scottish Govt. communications minister.
They choose their standards don't they ?
Mr Marr worked for Ms Alexander. She chose him. She also chose you as her agent.
Being leader of Scottish Labour is bad enough, but with Douglas for a brother, you as her Agent and Marr as her spokesman, my heart goes out to the poor lassie.
"Do you think anyone would actually buy this garbage ? you are a laughing stock, a pathetic attempt to mislead."
Pot...calling...I won't even bother.
(Political Athesist aka Mutt aka ?) 19/11/07 -
15 and 20 are quite close but bear no comparison politically, several years of Thatcherism takes a whole lot longer to repair not just in Ferguslie.
Your position is patently dishonest. Must it be so long ?
Cutting out foreign holidays for the unemployed would be cruel.
DHSS at 8am. Would you force the DHSS staff to be there as well ?
Terminally unemployable ? Make them Royalty or Lords and Ladies.
If able bodied people were sponging off the state I would disapprove.
(Rabbie) 19/11/07 - I'm not her agent, Marr is not her spokesperson and Douglas is her brother, meanwhile McAskill the drunken football casual is the Scottish Justice Minister.
"I'm not her (Alexander's) agent...."
Oh but you were her agent Terry and proud of it, so if you are her agent no longer, the question is: Were you pushed, or did you jump?
Has Ms Alexander seen the light?
Why after 35 years and half a billion pounds does Ferguslie Park still need money poured into the area?
Answer the question honestly please without resorting to ad hominim arguements or hiding behind political ideology?
perhaps you should speak to someone who knows something about how politics works.
I'll give you a hint, I'm not aware of any politician at the moment who has an election agent.
(Political Athesist aka Mutt aka ?) 20/11/07 You have a cheek lecturing anyone about honesty your whole argument is based on deception.
You want, seriatim, people to accept that the Thatcher years were the same as any other years, you don't know the meaning of honesty.
Answer the question please Cllr Kelly
Gotcha Cllr - No election, therefore no agent, right? Marr resigned, therefore, no longer Wendy's spokesman, right?
Cllr, how clever. You were toying with me you little tinker, weren't you?
However, your cuteness doesn't really impact on my initial post - having handpicked you as her (ex)agent and the sweet talking Marr as her (ex) spokesman, the poor lassie must be in need of counselling and strong medication.
She clearly selected you both on your good looks, rather than ability.
(Political Athesist aka Mutt aka ?) 14:50
Look harder at what I have said and you will see that I have answered - maybe you would like to tell us your answer.
Can I take it from this drivel that you have given up trying to win any political arguments ?
***Look harder at what I have said and you will see that I have answered ***
No, you have not answered the question. You have used every trick at your disposal to avoid answering the question.
***maybe you would like to tell us your answer.***
I'm not the politician claiming that after £0.5billion over 35 years Ferguslie Park STILL needs money spent on the area.
(Political Athesist aka Mutt aka ?) 21/11/07 -
All areas need money spent on them continually. Ferguslie and other poor areas suffered greatly under the Tory regime and will take longer to turn round.
***All areas need money spent on them continually**
Half a BILLION pounds though, seriously?
Assuming this money was apportioned evenly across the 35 years we are looking at £285.7mil being spent during the Tory years and £214.3mil being spent during the Labour years.
How much money DOES Ferguslie Park need and WHY does it need so much more than other comparably "poor" areas?
'Ferguslie,,,suffered under tory regime.'
What Tory regime would that be then?
(Political Athesist aka Mutt aka ?) 22/11/2007 - money goes where it is most needed, where do you get these figures ?
(Rabbie) 22/11/2007 I don’t remember doing that.
***where do you get these figures ?***
Various reports which are available online.
All you have to do is type phrases such as "Urban Development", "Social Funding", "Ferguslie Park, "Paisley" into Google - it's amazing what it comes back with.
(Political Athesist aka Mutt aka ?) 28/11/07 £ .5 Billion right ?
