WEE ALEX (THE SPIV) TOP OF THE LEAGUE - £20 K A DAY EXPENSES.

I know that some, maybe many SNP people have been dreading today.
Some wise councils have been saying that their McArthyite muck raking could backfire, 'OK we're having a great time but, what if they find one of ours who they can use to get back at us'.

The money they didn't declare sneaked by, Souter's 30 pieces of Silver got him and them what they wanted in a shameful 'quid pro quo'
"businessmen give money to political parties to buy influence" ( Ian Macwhirter The Herald )
Sean (take that you bitch) Connery's bought influence didn't shame them, SNP MP plying underage girls with drink to molest them was let go etc. etc.

The wise councils in the SNP are saying 'we should have left it alone' We went over the top, someone was bound to hit back, someone has, and horror of horrors it's wee Alex ( the spiv ) in the dock, the great 'braveheart' leader himself, ( a special price for you Donald my son )

How many homes does 'The Daily Record' go into ? second only to the Sun I believe. Banner headline page 2 "£20,000 A DAY FOR SALMOND EXPENSES" yes folks Alex (the spiv) has knocked his rivals into a cocked hat.

His rivals are amateurs, they are just playing at it, the wee spiv. doesn't do things by half, his motto is 'if you're going to do something, do it right' If he did a full 5 day week that would be £100,000, £400,000 a month, over £5 million a year with interest, what can you say ? he's a great Scot. indeed.
Val Doonican used to sing this line "Delaney lay exhausted hanging round it's throat with a grip just like a Scotsman on a "£5 note" wee Alex ( the spiv ) enhances that famous reputation.

When next they meet that other legendary operator 'The Trump' will doff his cap and wig and say "Alex, soul mate, I salute you"

It is totally unedifying for someone purporting to be a senior Labour figure and public servant to make these unsubstantiated allegations without any evidence.

Stop embarassing we Labour supporters please councillor.

Hard to argue with you on this point. Salmond is taking the P**s.

Anonymous said...

Surely 20k a day is wrong!

Are they only counting days where one of the councils he is on is sitting?

Must be really crowded at your house, all the people you meet on the way to the refrigerator.

Whilst I am not an SNP supporter, you really should get your figures correct Terry.

This is his expenses since last may which is over a period of 10 months.

This works aout at £13000 per month to cover all staff costs, offices, accomodation, travel, postage stationary etc.

You embarrass yourself and your party by making the comments that you have here, trying to score political point without using proper facts and figures.

It is also pertinent that these were all legitimate expenses unlike those claimed some memebers of your party.

I would love to see Labour councillors taking the initiative of publicly publishing their expenses over the last 10/15 years.

I wonder why Alex published these off of his back when he didn't have to.

Let's see all MP's and councillors publish all of their expenses on a dedicated website for all taxpayers to see how they are spending their money. Would you support this?

Not even you Councillor, could agree with that score.......could you??

Please God Terry, i'm watching New Labour conference and even i am embarrassed for you. the neanderthal warm up act Robertson has just stopped grunting and scraping his knuckles off the podium. Now we are getting Wendy homiles about her wee life should be worth a laugh. Must have been murder for her staring out the Manse window at all of societies injustices and horrors.

will fill you in on if it gets even worse. i know you wont be there.

These stories are all over the papers, you make it sound as if I invented them.

Who will he sue first ? The Record, The Sun or me ?

This is what other politicians have been putting up with from the SNP for the past six months, it’s not nice is it ?

As far as that nonsense is concerned, think about this. I don’t know any politician who would ever say something like that and be serious about it, even the mighty ego Salmond would not say that, he would think it though.

You look silly here.

Over £700,000 of public money has been spent on the Commons Speaker's official residence since 2001, figures show.

A Freedom of Information request by the Daily Telegraph revealed that over £100,000 a year was spent on furniture, art and air-conditioning.

Mr Martin has been criticised after his family used air miles from official flights, and his wife claimed cab fares for shopping trips.

The figures show that £148,900 has been spent on furniture, £13,000 on art, £191,000 on installing a new air-conditioning system, and £291,000 on "building restoration and refurbishment".

His own expenses have been the subject of scrutiny and his spokesman, Mike Granatt, resigned in February after he wrongly rebutted some parts of a story claiming that the Speaker's wife had claimed more than £4,000 in taxi expenses since May 2004.

Rumbled.

"Gordon Brown isn't remotely interested in "critiquing capitalism", let alone "making markets the servants of society".

And nor is Wendy Alexander. The idea that either of them are latter-day social democrats who can trace their descent from Red Clydeside is preposterous. Her politics is management science, her economic philosophy is choice and her morality is feminist individualism. And like Tony Blair she is destined for a future in investment banking.

All Wendy is doing by raising the scarlet standard high is trying to consolidate the Labour "base" in Scotland - the core vote that still believes in social democratic values. It is a cynical exercise in focus-group politics; a risible attempt to portray Labour as the party of the people, of equality and collective security.

The SNP is not a party that has come from the left. It doesn't have the same folk memory of industrial politics. But somehow it has managed to promote a political agenda closer to the social democratic soul of Scotland than the party of the new plutocracy that calls itself Labour. Thatcherite it ain't"

Iain Mcwhirter

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Anonymous) 29/03/08

That’s money spent on the ‘Speaker’s Residence’ i.e. the state spending money on itself , or do you think that Michael martin gets to keep it when he leaves, dismantles the air conditioning and takes it back to Glasgow ?

I believe that he has been cleared but, I admire your concern for the public purse, how do you feel about the Monarchy ? Even Prince Harry is worth £8 million and he, like the rest of them has never done a day’s work in his life.

Perhaps if they weren’t such a bad example eh ? Wee Alex (the spiv) is in the papers again claiming the Queen as Queen of Scotland, what a creep.

Councillor,
Wendy, the brightest button in Labour's box, gave herself a'10' on TV. That's hardly the place to go tongue in cheek.

More important still, do you feel able to support her assessment of her performance as leader?

In your opinion, is she really a 10?'

Hmmm, so by your reckoning, the Tories must have done something very right...seeing as they won four elections in a row.

Anyone who thinks that Wendy or indeed any other leader would give themselves 10 out of 10 doesn’t really have a grasp of matters, that’s you BTW.

“More important still, do you feel able to support her assessment “

That wasn’t her assessment, are you really that stupid ?

Drop the infantile marks out of ten. The fact that she is still standing, the fact that she did not crumble in the face of one of the most vicious campaigns that I have seen in 40 Yrs. In politics means she has the right stuff, she’ll do for me.

Labour Education spokeswoman, Rhona Brankin, 'pledged to make Scotland the first country in the world where everyone is able to read.'

If it needs a 'Literacy Commission,' the implications are that there are an awful lot of people in Scotland who, after decades of Labour rule, are unable to read.

Any comments, councillor?

The salient point is, that after decades of Labour rule, a senior Labour figure waits until they are in opposition before claiming it needs a 'commission' to teach folk to read.

Do you feel no shame?

During the web chat, driven by questions from BBC viewers, listeners and online users, she was asked to score herself out of 10 for her performance since being elected leader unopposed in September last year.

"Rising all the time, I think is the answer," said Ms Alexander, adding: "Ten out of 10, 10 out of 10."

I don't think that any sane 'leader' would award themselves 10 out of 10. That's exactly why it's so funny. She did award herself 10 out of 10.

What a shame for Scottish Labour that the 'leader' is such an object of ridicule.

Are you still advising her BTW? I see that 'socialism', as abandoned by the 'big' Labour party, is the new answer to all of Scotland's woes.

The Incorrigible Plagiarist said...

Labour arithmetic isn't up to much is it?

Question 1: How was the figure of £20k per day derived?

Question 2: How would Salmond attending Westminister more often affect the figures?

Question 3: How many marks out of ten can you award yourself for not answering either question?

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(The Incorrigible Plagiarist) 15:18

It really doesn’t matter how often you do this, you made a fool of yourself by suggesting that Wendy would actually award herself 10 out of 10 - she wouldn’t, and neither would any leader, you sound like a right ‘eejit’

When did I become her adviser ? Be careful now.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

Q/2 - Because if £20,000 is the cost of his expenses for a day then £40,000 would be the cost of two days.

Only a moron would imagine that Alex Salmond's expenses would rise to "£5 million pounds plus interest" if he spent a year at Westminister.

I really can't believe that you've made such a fud of yourself with this, despite the mind boggling stupidity that I've come to expect from you.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

This is now whistling in the dark, apart from the mob who are still trying everything the can to do damage, no-one believes a senior politician would say something like this and not mean it as a joke.

He’s not unique you know.

Macnasty said...

Terry,
Your innovative explanation for Wendy giving herself a '10' - 'she was joking' - raises doubts about her status as a serious politician.

I mean, Castro never cracked a joke, Uncle Joe wouldn't have had them rolling in the aisles and as for Honecker....

Nope, the only politician who raised a smile was Winston.

Clearly, this joke thing gives you a problem in the hero-worshipping stakes. Mad Bob appears to have been kicked into the long grass and Wendy, according to you, is a comedienne.

My heart goes out to you, it really does.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Macnasty)
You stick to your story, that is that the leader of a political party when asked gave herself marks of 10 out of 10 right ?

I’m happy with that.

Macnasty said...

Kelly @ 2.47

Terry,
Not for the first time, you've confused me.
What is your current position on Wendy and the '10'?
Are you sticking with 'She said it as a joke,' which makes her look ridiculous.
Or have you moved on to 'She never said it,' which will have the men in white coats entering Kelly Towers into their satnavs..

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Macnasty) 03/04/08

There is no confusion, you believe that a party leader answered seriously, by marking herself 10 out of 10 when asked to describe her performance.

I’m happy to let anyone who reads this decide for themselves, I don’t need to put up an argument.

Macnasty said...

Terry
Yup,I believe that your Party Leader was serious when she graded herself as '10 and building'

You, on the other hand, think she was joking.

Either way, I cannot remember hearing any politician say anything quite as stupid.

If you're 'happy for anyone who reads this to decide for themselves,' then I do hope your readers let you have their verdict.
