IRAN, THE JACK TARS & THE FLAG WAVERS

The beastly Iranians pulled a dirty trick and captured 15 of our brave British sailors. They then subjected them to unspeakable deprivations too horrible to recount, and made them lie to the world, as always our heroes stood up to their evil captors with the good old bull dog spirit which has made our proud country the ruler of the waves, god bless her and them etc. etc. They faced the 'bumping pitch and blinding light' like true British Sailors.

An easy victory and publicity triumph was achieved by the Iranians when 15 British sailors surrendered to them without a fight, our lot acted like a bunch of bloody 'Johnny Foreigners', everyone of them should go before a court martial and be drummed out of Her Majesty's Navy. They now have the audacity to sell their stories to the press, how dare they, it will take a long, long time before the British Empire lives this down.

Who wrote which of the above accounts ? Actually, they both come from right wing sources, the same people who immediately started flag waving several days later turned on them with a vengeance.

From heroes to cowards in the British Tory press only takes a day or two, how typical of the right, no real loyalty to anyone except themselves, what a mess they've got themselves into.
The armchair combatants and ringside fighters are apoplectic and it is an extremely ugly site.

I hope everyone is having a good hard look at them, Biggles and Colonel Blimp how are ye ?

Can you post the links to the original articles? I would guess no because you have clearly made these up.

At this point, in normal circumstances, you'd point us in the direction of the sources...

Of course, one has to look under every last stone in the leftist press before you find a difference of opinion

Terry the right wing have not turned on the soldiers they are criticising the MoD for allowing them to sell their stories.

Terry are you reading the same newspapers and watching the same news channels as the rest of us?

Links, Man. You must use links.

Without them, we suspect you are just making stuff up, taking it out of context or putting what you think right-wingers might say (in your paranoid fantasy world).

This post (if at all possible) makes you look even more of an idiot.

The offer of a pint is still open... But don't worry you didn't offend me!

iLL Man said...

A bit of a fallacious premise there Terry. If they had come from the same source, then you may have had a point. I'm assuming they come from two seperate sources though. Any chance of some links? Oh, and "they're both right wing" doesn't count as one source. =D

Good luck for this election. Ignore these stupid people. One day the red flag will fly in all countries like John Lennon but not so lazy.

Here is my best Socialist song. FOR THE RED FLAG TERRY!!!!!! DON'T BELIEVE THE LIES!!!!!

Mt. Paektu reaches across
To shape our beautiful land.
Cheers resound all over the land,
Hailing our dear General.
He's the leader of the people,
Carrying forward the Sun's cause.
Long live, long live, General Kim Jong Il.

All blossoms on this earth
Tell of his love, broad and warm.
Blue East and West Seas sing
His exploits in their song.
He is the artist of great joy,
Glorifying the garden of Juche.
Long live, long live, General Kim Jong Il.

Socialist cause he defends
With iron will and courage.
He raises national honour
Far and wide throughout the world.
He is the champion of justice,
Standing for independence.
Long live, long live, General Kim Jong Il.

A SONG FOR TERRY_ VERY GOOD MAN YES!!!!!!!!

He said to me he wanted to be near to me
He said he never wanted to be out of my sight
But it's too late to give this boy my love tonight
Please wait at the gate of heaven for me, Terry.

He said to me he wanted to be close by my side
We had a quarrel, I was untrue on the night he died
And it's too late to tell this boy how great was
Please wait at the gate of heaven for me, Terry.

He rode into the night, accelerated his motorbike
I cried to him in fright, don't do it, don't do it, don.t do it.

He said to me you are the one I want to be with
He said to me you are the one who my love I shall give
One day he'll know how hard I prayed for him to live
Please wait at the gate of heaven for me, Terry.

He rode into the night, accelerated his motorbike
I cried to him in fright, don't do it, don't do it, don.t do it.

He said to me you are the one I want to be with
He said to me you are the one who my love I shall give
One day he'll know how hard I prayed for him to live
Please wait at the gate of heaven for me, Terry.

Terry, Terry, Terry

For once I actually agree with some of what you said. The behaviour of the media is as always disgraceful. We expect that.

However, a lot of my venom is reserved for the real cowards in this. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give the arch weasel Des Browne. He's gone from "It was a Navy decision, not my responsibility." to "It was a Navy decision, but I am after all the Defence Secretary." He even had to qualify his statement taking responsibility. His boss is on better, keeping well away from the whole stink. Of course, he's had his fun with this, painting the rosy picture that somehow he did something that got these personnel released. I predicted when they were captutred that there would be a stink, the Iranians would make some sort of polticial cpaital from all this, and they would be released. Tony knew this too, so he played on it. Well done Bliar. A blinder as your acolyte Terry would have it.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

jimlewis - I'm delighted that these people are safe and that's because the Govt. got it right.

The rest of this stuff about selling their stories is a load of garbage, I couldn't care less about it.

Some people are pretending to be outraged by it to score points against Blair.

Some people are pretending to be outraged by it to score points against Blair.

In which case, why have the government performed such an abrupt U-turn over the right to sell the stories, if people are only pretending to be outraged by it?

Was it an own-goal by the government if it allows people to score points against Bliar?

Anonymous said...

Terry you were mocking those sailors when they were paraded on Iranian TV was it because the right wing were for their release? concerned for their well-being? unlike you who was laughing at their plight.

Now with the soldiers and MoD facing criticism you are now their greatest defender. I have a novel idea for you how about supporting and defending people when they are in great difficulty not when the right wing criticise them.

Don't talk to me about credibility you unprincipled shyster it is rather irritating. More synthetic compassion which is a concern of mine because a councillor has a duty to assist his constituents if they have any problems. Do you have any compassion at all?

Tony said...

On arriving home they should have had their debrief and then returned to duty. End of. They probably joined the military expecting to go skiing, fly gliders and sail around warm waters while listening to iPods. That is Labour's idea of the military. All posture and no teeth. Front up then back down.

Blair and Co are terrified of it being revealed that the rules of engagement were to run up the white flag. They are avoiding an inquiry because they cannot answer why other ships did not provide protection. Labour sends our military forth with hands tied behind their backs. They may as well hand out flowers.

Blair's Government was so inept during the captivity it tried to find a way to 'counter Iranian propaganda' and the 2 of the 15 were used accordingly. Another of Blair's blinders there, eh Terry? Hiding behind 15 youngsters? I feel sorry for them.

Anonymous said...

"Some people are pretending to be outraged by it to score points against Blair."

Does that include the mother of the woman soldier who was one of those killed the day the personnel were released? You heartless, arrogant, untkhinking arse, can't you for once put humanity ahead of political point scoring, especially since most of the points being scored are in the nature of own goals?

Oh and by the way, if this is a non-issue, try telling St Tony of Albion. For a non-story, Number 10 is working bloody hard to distance itself from it.

But I can’t understand why we let someone else rule our land
We’re cap in hand

We fight - when they ask us
We boast - then we cower

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

Zin Zin - 'mocking' you don't seem to have read what I said, or maybe it's just not clear enough. I, along with many, many others commented on the comparison between these hostages and others held captive, it was rather obvious even if you couldn't see it.

My sympathies were, and are with those held captive, my contempt is reserved for the Tory right wing press who campaigned for them and then turned on them like the rats that they are.

The whole thing is a circus and as far as I'm concerned they can make as much as they can from it, plenty of others do. Compassion ? I have enough of that not to use these people for my own ends, does that remind you of anyone ?

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

RFS _ stop trying to be clever, what are you on about ?

I'll be demonstrating exactly what I think of the party which continues to support the American Guantanemo abomination, the party full of faux CND activists who have renewed the Trident evil... no need to continue with this long list... I know how boring you find Labour's failures.
