IS SALMOND IN HIDING? WILL HE ABANDON THE SEPARATION REFERENDUM ?

Thursday night, saw an snp majority in the Aberdeen by election slashed by 5,000, and Labour took a council seat in Edinburgh from the snp as well as holding a Labour seat in Fife with an increased majority. Meanwhile the polls continue to record a large lead for the No campaign in the separation referendum, a lead which has been solid for approximately 2 years.

Why should I have a problem then? Well I do; and it takes the form of a battle against complacency. The snp and the separatist campaign are so rudderless and dreary that enthusiasm for attacking them is hard to sustain. The urge to stand back and watch them unravel and suffer the certain humiliation which is coming to them is almost irresistible. I mustn't do that though and neither must any No campaigner, these people (snp) would take Scotland backwards and it would not be long before we were in the midst of parochialism and despair. With the snp nutters no longer able to blame the English and if the country voted for separation our minority communities would soon feel the lash of the snp patriotic gauleiters who would blame them for every failure, problem or insult; real or imagined.

That is only one of the dangers of separation but it is one which should fill every decent Scot. with dread, If you want to live with your head held high, do not let it happen, VOTE NO TO INDEPENDENCE.

Thank God we've the rest of the UK to keep us civilised, eh? If we ended up governing ourselves it would be a matter of weeks before we were burning witches and forcing anyone without ginger hair to walk in the gutter. Do you have the faintest idea of how utterly ridiculous you are, councillor?

Utterly ridiculous or not Mr/Ms anonymous but you haven't tackled any of the points made and you are too much of a coward to identify yourself.

Consequently I don't have much respect for you or your girning.

You didn't make any points, old chap: you just grunted some bigoted nonsense.

Under the jackboot of the snp; parochialism and despair would only be part of it. Ignorance, incompetence, racism and sectarianism would become the norm and much more. On the other hand there would be lots of jobs available as we built more prisons.

So looking at your last post, you believe that if Scotland becomes independent, the SNP will instantly declare a one party state and lock up...who? Catholics? Asians? Gay people? English people? Do you have any evidence for any of this, beside those voices in your head? Now I could see your point if Salmond had ever said anything as stupid and insular as "Scottish jobs for Scottish workers", but it was some Labour hack who said something similar, wasn't it? Can you remind me who that was, Terry?

The evidence I have is historical, nationalism breeds hatred, cruelty, intolerance, sectarianism and much more. Gordon Brown said British jobs for British workers and I agree with that but not to the exclusion of other workers who are entitled to those jobs, no matter where they come from, and I am absolutely confident that that is what he meant. Salmond and the snp on the other hand would in my opinion make Scottishness a prerequisite of having a job, a house or even civil rights. Their world is one where being Scottish is a qualification for everything that is good, where the best qualified person is overlooked because they are not Scottish and that is the road to mediocrity and narrow-minded backwardness.

Your absolute confidence in Salmond's intentions to preclude any non-Scots from housing or employment is founded in nothing more than absolute, wilful, bone-headed, pig-ignorant prejudice. I asked you for evidence, and all I got was a nonsensical generalisation about nationalism. Does that cover every nationalism? It's weird, because I've seen people of lots of different nationalities living and working in nations like India and Ireland and Morocco-all of which achieved independence in the 20th century. So try to explain why Scottish nationalism is different-use facts this time, demonstrable facts. And please don't go off on a rant about Arthur Donaldson. That man is no more representative of the modern SNP than Oswald Mosley is of the modern Labour party.
Your absolute confidence that Gordon Brown wasn't playing to a reactionary gallery is rather sweet. Completely baseless, but sweet.

I will answer you in kind.
Preclude is your word not mine he would discriminate against non Scots. in the way i have said. You sound as if you are very angry and your language is very typically nationalistic. I gave you my evidence, if it doesn't suit your prejudices them that makes me happy. The nationalism I refer to is ethnic nationalism wrapped in hatred and akin to fascism and racism. I've been in Ireland and Morocco and they are nothing like Scottish nationalism, they don’t have the nasty spiteful undertones that the snp are polluted with. So you don’t want me to mention Arthur Donaldson? Would you like to just write this for me? I wouldn't want to talk about him either if I were you but, he and the founders of nationalism are Scotland’s shame, hate filled Nazi sympathisers, a glorious history your party has. Gordon Brown doesn't have a reactionary bone in his body, your attacks on him are pathetic and nothing short of Scottish nationalism’s brand of McCarthism.
You people are a disgrace.

Ah, I see. You have presented no evidence that Salmond would discriminate against non-Scots; because there isn't any. Not one shred of evidence. Opinion without proof is one of the characteristics of prejudice. wouldn't you say?
Is it McCarthyist to criticise a speech Gordon Brown made that was widely condemned-by plenty of people within the Labour party, among others-as a weak attempt to steal the immigration debate from the Tories and UKIP? You just adore your heroes, don't you Terry? Anyway, I'm not angry in the least: you're the one who sounds permanently furious, little man.
You have a shock coming in the next year or two: either a narrow Yes win, or a narrow No vote that's going to result in something close to DevoMax, and another SNP victory in 2015. Your party is swimming against the tide. Enjoy it while it lasts.

The snp is infested with racism and Salmond is its leader, I assume he knows about his own party which makes him de facto a racist as well and his position makes him the worst of the lot of them. The comments you make in his and his parties support mean that you are the same. It is McCarthyist to deliberately misinterpret what Gordon Brown said for political gain. I am permanently furious so what? We will see about who comes out on top in due course. I have the history and values of socialism and the Labour movement on my side and you have narrow minded chauvinism and race hatred on yours. I’m fine with that.

Cllr Kelly, may I be permitted to comment regarding Mr Derek McKay now confirming his sexuality, can I firstly say that my comments only refer to the Ministers wife and Kids, whom I wonder is supporting them, the Nats Business Suits have said in the press "Derek is getting support" Mr George Adams MSP states2 we are all helping Derek, get through this" What about his ex wife and kids, no one appears to care about them. Mr McKay should have been honest with the voters, and stood as a Gay Man for the elections, many people agree with this, it's about honesty, that's all Mr McKay.

I have spent a considerable number of years opposing Derek Mackay in Renfrewshire Council and in Holyrood and I find his political views abhorrent.

He has committed many misdemeanour's but being gay is not one of them. His private life and his sexuality are none of my business it has in fact nothing to do with me or indeed anyone else in my opinion, including you.

I do not accept for one moment that he has done anything dishonest or hurtful in relation to his family and I have no reason to suspect that he will treat them in the future with anything other than love and kindness.

Having said all that I will not however hesitate to engage him in robust argument when the opportunity arises, I'm sure he would not want me to do otherwise and I would be surprised if he does not respond in kind.

If you are looking for someone to exploit his present situation then you have come to the wrong guy. If there were less people like you around his circumstances would not be the subject of such comment but it seems we will have to wait longer for such an enlightened and civilised attitude to prevail.
