TRUE SCOTS. IT’S TIME TO TAKE UP ARMS. GET YER KNIVES N FORKS AND FOLLOW ALEX. YOU COUNTRY NEEDS YOU!

In a Braveheart attempt to save the Hall's Meat Plant in Broxburn Alex Salmond has announced that the SNP Scottish Government is to run a campaign to encourage Scots. to eat more Sausages, Haggis and Black Pudding. Mr. Salmond stated that he will go the extra mile to save the plant and he intends to lead from the front by consuming great quantities of these products himself. Today alone in a heroic start to his campaign the first minister in a selfless display of courage and sacrifice displayed his determination to fight for this famous Scottish firm by devouring several plates of sausages and several strings of Black Pudding as well as countless plates of Haggis, all washed down by a family sized bottle of Diet Irn Bru.

He says that he does not expect everyone to match his determination but pleads for effort from all true Scots. This could be his tilt at greatness you never know, it is a fact that he has; even if inadvertently been in training for just such an emergency for several years. Rumours are already circulating to the effect that the Big City Shysters are snapping up shares in the company, such is the First Ministers fame as a man who can make grub disappear as we say here in Scotland "like snaw aff a dyke"

The SNP Scottish Government will be issuing button badges bearing the logos "I'm a Scottish Haggis Hero" " I'm a Scottish Black Pudding Patriot"" and of course "Sausages Are the boys" Mr. Salmond hinted between belches that he could be ready soon to guarantee that these jobs will be safe. It goes without saying that all true patriotic Scots. will be coerced (sorry I meant to say encouraged) to boycott all English meat products.

Remember the cry for Scotland and Halls Meat Factory. "They may take our lives but they will never take oor Scottish Sausages"

Tens of thousands are facing unemployment if Salmond gets his way. How many jobs were lost under Thatcher ? “we Scots. did not mind Mrs.Thatcher’s economic policies so much” (Alex Salmond) Shame on you sir.

Off topic, Councillor, but is it now the habit of Scotsmen to blub in public?

I think he learned it from Paul Gascoigne and all those English players who struck the tea lady in behind row Z with their penalties.

The article is a justified attack on someone who lied to these workers to get their votes, just as he did to the Johnnie Walker workers in Kilmarnock to try to buy their votes as well. You anonymous people who protect Salmond don’t know the meaning of the word shame.

Right I'm willing to make myself a target for you and your myopic lunatic fringe but I am a real person who has spent their entire life in poorly paid jobs (Building trade/ army/ fire service) and am now currently lucky enough to earn good money in the oil industry - enlighten me on how you and your kind will make Scotland better (without being unpleasant and sneering please)?

You first write, “you and your myopic lunatic fringe”

You then invite me to write back. “without being unpleasant and sneering please”

And I now write back to you, Go and F**k yourself.

It scares me to think that anyone as obviously thick as you is allowed anywhere near a gun, a fire hose, an oil rig or a building site

Being in America for so long I've lost or maybe never had your wordy swordplay, it's fun though. I prefer Thomas Paine's "Common Sense" as the argument at the time for the American Revolutionary/Independence War. Ya'll are are closer to the deal, I'm looking at it through binoculars. The Independence argument for me has parallels in the political, economic and social allegory/metaphor "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" the "Emerald City" would have to be changed to the 'Sapphire City" for obvious reasons. Alex "The Wiz" behind the curtain with all the bells and whistles will give Scotland back her heart, courage and brain? The original was written at the time America was getting off "The Gold Standard" hence "The Yellow Brick Road" wonder of there is a parallel with oil money? We have our own modern fairy tale going on here in the States with the Pied Piper Barack Obama, he did get ride of the rats, but is he now taking our children with massive debt he is incurring?

Nationalism is the measles of the Planet Earth” (Albert Einstein) & “Patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel” (Samuel Johnson)

And Alex (the spiv) Salmond is no Thomas Paine, he is the worst kind of political scoundrel there is. The one who starts to believe his own lies.

You mean, you don't believe yours, Councillor?

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

If you mean lies, how dare you I do not tell lies.

Oh yes you do.
I read them daily on the herald blogs.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

I've never been so insulted and from a Herald reader as well the shame of it, ochone ochone

Ah, sorry I have been busy so have only just read your thought provoking response to my question. I specifically did not insult you but to be fair I lumped in the Britnat provacateurs in the same sentence so I can take your response on the chin. My question still remains though - this country had more universities and had already over 200 years of free education available for its children in place, at the time of Union - would we genuinely have gone backwards without it?

The answer Is a rather obvious Yes!
Without being unpleasant and sneering.

You refer to a time approximately 500 years ago when this country “had more universities” do you mean compared to now?

How many students were there compared to now? From where did they draw the students? How many were farm labourers, road diggers, blacksmiths etc? and how many were sons N.B. (not daughters) of the rich?

dodgee said...

Apologies -this tablet makes it a bit difficult, I meant more Universities than its larger neighbour. I have read numerous references to the Scottish Enlightenment only being possible due to the act of Union -when history would appear to tell us the seeds had already been sown.
The only advantage of the union is we were no longer fighting off our neighbour.
As you have already indicated, I lack your education, knowledge and experience so would welcome your insight into exactly what would cause an educated country to be reduced to the status of being incapable of looking after itself.

“exactly what would cause an educated country to be reduced to the status of being incapable of looking after itself”

Famine, War, Invasion, Pestilence, Poverty, Drought, Flood, Plague, Mass Emigration etc. If it could happen to the Roman Empire without these things well? Safer to be part of a big nation, the bigger the better.

dodgee said...

Surely that proves the point - the Roman Empire no longer exists and the individual nations administer themselves. Empires exist to feed the mother state all the wealth and resources are sucked from the feeder states to allow the masters to live a comfortable lifestyle.
The rest of the British Empire got wise to this a while ago -a resource rich, educated nation like Scotland occupying it's rightful place in the world could cope very easily.
Partnership, alliance and agreement with neighbours and like-minded nations is the way forward rather than abdicating responsibility and allowing a regime which has different priorities to control your destiny.
Fact is we are ideologically opposed and I doubt there will be much we agree on. In my attempts to keep this civil I can say I appreciate your courage in posting and defending your position regardless of my own personal views on the content of your blogs.

“Empires exist to feed the mother state”

In Roman times not now.

“a resource rich, educated nation like Scotland occupying it's rightful place in the world could cope very easily”

Neither resource rich nor well educated and would not cope easily.

“the way forward rather than abdicating responsibility and allowing a regime which has different priorities to control your destiny”

There is no abdication of responsibility, no different priorities and our destiny is British.

“I appreciate your courage in posting and defending your position”

Very kind of you but actually I find it a ‘doddle’
