THE ETHICAL SNP GOVERNMENT - AYE RIGHT !

I have been asking occasionally over a period of months if there is any dissent in the ranks of the SNP, or is every one of them still too scared of Alex (the spiv) to get off their knees. Some time ago I caused a stushie by attacking the SNP for it’s dealings with the Mormon Brigham Young University, an openly homophobic organisation accused in the Scottish Parliament of driving gay students to suicide, the SNP were involved in business deals with them through using their students as ’interns’ at Holyrood. It was a shaming episode for the SNP, the Scottish Parliament and the Scottish people. The SNP however insisted on carrying on with their ’trade’ and bringing dishonour on Scotland, as far as I’m aware nothing has changed, and neither has my opinion.

We now see them at it again, the SNP Govt. are dealing with an American company CACI (UK) which is close to the Bush administration, and is accused of torturing prisoners in Abu Ghraib Prison in Baghdad, the SNP Govt. are paying them to carry out the next census. There is also the possibility that census information might find it’s way into the hands of the Bush Govt. the very thugs who sanction the torture. Scottish human rights lawyers and campaigners are not surprisingly outraged and critical of the SNP over this, how much damage will this do to our reputation ? They don’t seem to have learned anything from the Mormon Intern scandal, Donald Trump really seems to have convinced Salmond (the spiv) that everything in Scotland is for sale.

“how much am I bid for Edinburgh Castle, Bobby Burns’s Cottage, Ben Nevis”
(A. Salmond the spiv)

Those issuing the contract are already hiding behind the mantra of competitive tendering and not acting on allegations, “delivering best value for tax payers” pass the sick bag.
If the Govt. showed some courage and sacked this mob and went against these conditions they would be backed up by the people, will they though ? Human Rights Activists intend to run a campaign designed to encourage people not to co-operate with the census unless the contract with this company is torn up. That will be worth supporting, force the SNP Govt. to do the right thing, stop them doing more damage to Scotland's reputation.

Terry
A member of the Labour Part lecturing any one on ethics surprised me. And then I remembered those members of the Party who have added to your knowledge, admittedly in a negative kind of way, but nonetheless, added to it.

We have serial offenders, Mandelson and Blunkett followed by Robinson, Byers, Blair, Kelly, Campbell,Jowell,Alexander, Martin and, to restore your faith in me, the Hon. Vaz. What a Roll of Honour that is.

Go for it son - you're the man who knows a stink when you tread in it.

Anonymous said...

One would have to ask how folk finished up in Abu Ghraib Prison in the first place.

Oh yes it was Tony Blair and Bush what sent them there. Part of illeagal wars supported by your then leader and supported by the present one.

Blair is responsible for butchering thousands of innocent people, many of them children, in Iraq, and Afganistan - and you are guilty of helping him do it.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Macnasty) 28/09/08

I think if you read what I said you will see that I have attacked the SNP for hypocrisy.

And you have just proved that you are indeed a racist, what did Mr. Vaz do to you to deserve such attention, apart from being the wrong colour that is.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Anonymous) 09:28

Nothing about the SNP hiring the Abu Ghraib Torturers then ?

“and you are guilty of helping him do it” how did you work that out ? And what are you doing about it ?

Macnasty said...

So, you attacked the SNP for hypocrisy.

As the b******g obvious seems to have passed you by, that is exactly what I was attacking you over.

And the Hon Vaz is in more trouble, this time for asking Brown's advice on a supposedly independent report. You see Terry, the man's failing isn't his colour, it's that he is an arrogant idiot who thinks, like the others I mentioned earlier, that the rules dont apply to Labour politicians

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Macnasty) 13:34

I heard you the first couple of times when you said these things, I don’t believe you though. I believe that Mr. Vaz’s problem with you is his colour.

Nick said...

So if someone repeatedly says Peter Mandelson, Ruth Kelly and Keith Vaz are not models of probity because of shifty things they've been up to, does that make them homophobic, anti-Catholic and racist?

I just want to get it clear, that's all...

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Nick) 17:14

“does that make them homophobic, anti-Catholic and racist” I suppose it’s possible that someone could be all three but it’s highly unlikely.

Surely though a well educated intellectual giant like you should find it a wee bit suspicious when Mr. Vaz is singled out when there are so many other targets.

Why do you think he chose Mr. Vaz ? remember, he has previous before you make another a**e of yourself, I’m being generous here.

Three comments in 20 minutes or so, are you sure you are coping with this all right ?

Macnasty said...

'Remember, he (macnasty) has previous here'

Yup.....and so does the Hon Vaz.

Next question, Councillor

I would have thought that the name CACI(UK) would have given the game away that this was a British company.
They have been used by the NHS and the Co-op.
Data Protection laws would ensure that none of the data would be used illegally.
At the moment our reputation ( if Scotland has any)in the Muslim world is being destroyed by the continuing invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan so this tangential connection isn't going to make much difference either way.

Nick said...

Easy there, big yin! Just asking! Where has Macnasty been racist? At the start of this thread, he just adds Vaz to a reasonably sized roll-call of dodgy Labour types. Evidence please...

On a broader point, isn't a member of the Labour Party calling members of another party unethical at best the pot calling the kettle black?

I don't think I made an arse of myself. I think you did by calling me a Nazi, then babbling about how you "know me".

Oh, don't worry about me. I'm just bored at work here in my ivory tower.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Macnasty) 29/09/08

I don’t think you will ever find the courage to say what you are desperate to say, typical.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Anonymous) 30/09/08

Yes of course, you were only following orders right ?

Your confidence in the law to protect anything from America is touching, anyway what’s a little torturing it’s no big deal is it ?

“this tangential connection isn't going to make much difference either way”

you are a coward and an apologist for evil.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Nick) 08:48

“I don't think I made an arse of myself”

When you decided to tell everyone how well educated you were and that you were a professional writer you made a monumental a**e of yourself.

When you decided to mock my grammar etc. and abandon the argument you made an a**e of yourself.

Someone like me couldn’t possibly get the better of someone like you with your background could they ? your degree from a top 5 Uni. and your professional writing career. Every time I write it down the a**e you made of yourself gets bigger and bigger.

Nick said...

Oh pickle, you started it! "Is English your first language?" Remember saying that?

You should be celebrating my educational achievements: people like me are proof the state school system can work.

I didn't abandon the argument either. If you want to carry it on here, that's dandy.

You said:

"you are showing your totalitarian tendencies again, the kind of attitude that Hitler would have applauded you for, are you some kind of Nazi or something?"

I don't see how you can twist that to mean i) you are not accusing me of holding totalitarian ideals and ii) you are not conflating that with Nazism specifically.

Anyway, clear that up and you can get back to calling other commenters racists, cowards and apologists for torture.

Macnasty said...

Kelly, you (frequently) call me racist, most recently for pointing out the record of the Hon. Vaz.

You never mention the raft of other names on my list of dubious politician, none of them Asian, or even acknowledge my good taste in not remarking on Mr Sarwar's incomprehensible English.

C'mon Terry, play the white man, credit where it's due

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Nick) 15:19

I’m beginning to wonder about the merits of having a degree from a top 5 Uni. and being a professional writer, I know it sounds good when you want to do some bragging but, what about the person ?

Your education achievements don’t seem to be helping you to find where I called you a Nazi, did you miss class that day ?

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Macnasty) 17:24

“Kelly, you (frequently) call me racist” - And I’m right. Try a couple of double brandies, that might help you to spit it out, it’s the only “courage” you can find.

Anonymous said...

So Labour's data protection laws don't work.
Why then has the Labour party continually given contracts to Bush supporting EDS?
Thus giving them access to all our tax and health records.
In an earlier post you stated that you were on the side of the Russians in Georgia - you are a supporter of evil.

Macnasty said...

Kelly @ 17.24
Kelly, how could you - racist, bigot, homophobe, liar and Tory I can accept, but suggesting I drink that Froggie filth, brandy is too much.

No more Mr Nice Guy, battle lines have now been drawn

A bottle of Scotland's Finest, Highland Park, will be broached to celebrate your forthcoming humiliation in Glenrothes

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Anonymous) 30/09/08

Civil rights activists and lawyers are concerned about this and I share their concerns, perhaps they regard torturing people as different from other businesses, maybe the American torturers would show a bit more interest in this.

“In an earlier post you stated that you were on the side of the Russians in Georgia - you are a supporter of evil”

Do you mean that Russians are evil or that in relation to events in Georgia they are evil ? if it’s the former you’re an idiot and if it’s the latter you have a very simplistic view of world events.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Macnasty) 09:30

Having spent 5 years working in a Scottish Whiskey distillery I would caution you against drinking the stuff.

By all means use it to strip paint off your doors but do not drink it. drink something safer, like airplane fuel.

Macnasty said...

Kelly, Manchester University has removed the words 'Ladies' and 'Gentlemen' from it's loo doors, making them unisex, after complaints from 'transgendered' folk.

When it was suggested that this was 'PC gone mad,'the lady responsible said the comment itself was offensive as it smacked of 'disableism.'

As a staunch supporter of Dingbats everywhere, do you have a comment?

I tell you, this would never have happened under Mrs Thatcher. Or Castro

Anonymous said...

You are the one with a simplistic view of events in Georgia.
You gave your unequivocal support to the Russians- therefore you are giving your tacit support to their policy of letting South Ossetian militias commit atrocities on a par with anything committed in Abu Ghraib.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Macnasty) 01/10/08

I suppose that people like you who are happy to tolerate/perpetrate discrimination would find any attempt to make the lives of minority groups easier unacceptable, the fact that you see this as something worth writing about says more about you and your kind than it does about Manchester University.

You should not compare Mrs. Thatcher and Castro, the former was a war criminal and a brutal dictator and the latter was one of the greatest men of the 20 Th. Century.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Anonymous) 01/10/08

My view of events in Georgia is not simplistic, yours is.

The rest of your post demonstrates perfectly your simplistic view of the conflict.

Macnasty said...

So Manchester Uni has got the Kelly nod of approval on unisex toilets.

Terry, you wee exhibitionist, as a man of some sensitivity, would you really be at ease, standing, contemplating your plumbing with dolly birds passing to and fro all over the place.

I think we should be told.

Anonymous said...

I'm on the side of human rights in Georgia - the Georgians were wrong to launch their invasion just as the Russians were wrong with their extended intervention.
Your view is "I'm on the side of the Russians" - which is the more simplistic?

Ethics and Labour??

Mandelson back and in charge of 'Business, Enterprise and REGULATORY Reform.'

Doesn't have the same ring as the Admiralty signal @ 1939 'Winston's Back' does it? And given his record, this is akin to putting Jack the Ripper in charge of a Home for Distressed Streetwalkers.

Does he enjoy your full support, mon Commissar?

Peter Mandelson back in the cabinet and with a seat in the Lords in the same week you blast the SNP for being unethical.

Not even MacNasty could make this up.

I’m not sure your fixation with this is entirely healthy, you sound a bit repressed to me.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

Ah Churchill, the half witted old drunk, racist an regular changer of sides, advocate of using nerve gas and shooting British Coal Miners. Give me Mandelson any time, I wonder how many people were wondering when they read that telegram, “OK he’s back but, which side is he going to be on ?”

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Anonymous) 14:37

I would not personally want to see Mandelson back in Govt. but not for the reasons which you seem to be suggesting which are bogus.

If you want to talk about politicians that you think are untrustworthy you really should start with Alex (the spiv) Salmond. The only reason he doesn’t top the list is lack of opportunity being confined to Scotland.

Anonymous said...

To clarify, 'the reasons I'm suggesting' Mandelson should never, ever, come into government again are (a) The Robinson mortgage and (b) The Hinduja brothers passport.

Would these be the reasons you describe as 'bogus?'

Macnasty said...

Kelly @ 14.37

The reasons Mandelson should not even be in the party, let alone in Government are simple. His forced resignations were because of an undeclared loan and abuse of office.

You claim that these charges are bogus and that you have other reasons for not wanting him in government.

In my opinion, the fact that he has a male partner and is Jewish should not and cannot be grounds to disqualify him from office, but the mortgage and the Hindujah brothers should cast him into the outer darkness forever.

Can you honestly see the 'Unethical' M Thatcher welcoming someone with his record back into the fold the way our 'Ethical' PM has?

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Anonymous) 03/10/08

A rather threadbare argument. All you have clarified is your own ignorance.

Anyone who is elected to the House of Commons is perfectly entitled to hold Govt. office, anyone who is not legally barred from holding public office is entitled to do so.

I could suggest a lot of people who should never hold public office but, that would be based on my subjective prejudices (like you) not on the rules and regulations which govern these matters.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Macnasty) 03/10/08

“Can you honestly see the 'Unethical' M Thatcher welcoming someone with his record back into the fold the way our 'Ethical' PM has?”

Does Geoffrey Archer count ?

1985: Margaret Thatcher and King Fahd agree al-Yamamah arms-for-oil deal’s first phase, does this count ?

Mark Thatcher became a multi millionaire through his involvement in these deals, probably because of his brilliant business brain and his expertise on state of the art weaponry right ?

Thatcher is a crook and a war criminal, she makes Mandelson look like a saint.

Terry re your reply @ 10.43

Mandelson is NOT a Member of Parliament.

However, he is a disgrace, but the Son of the Manse is desperate.

I trust this shameful PM has a long spoon.

Good Afternoon Mr Kelly,
I am an elderly gent and new to this sort of thing, can I say how much I enjoy your Blog site, very interesting and entertaining on a cold autumn day.

I look at the lovely old town of Paisley, the SNP have been in power for over a year and what has changed!!!!
Cllr Maclaren said in his election leaflets " you been nuts not to try us" well we have and the taste would make you sick, the town is still a dump, opening up the small part of the high street has done nothing for this town, Cllr McKay is very busy pouring money into the town of Renfrew at what cost! at least the Labour party tried and started up grading Paisley.

All we seem to see from the SNP is closures, cut back and much more of the same, my grand daughter goes to the South School and is crest fallen that it is closing, where was my local Councillor, Mr Jim Mitchell? No where to been seen! What a little hypocrite, wants you vote one minute, then slides back under his rock the next.

At least our MP & MSP Hugh and Douglas are active and god help us if either one of them should lose their seat.

Mr Kelly, keep these nats or as you call them spivs in order, I just can't think why no one else in the Labour Party is doing what you are doing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Macnasty said...

Kelly @ 11'48

Nice try, but no, Jeffrey Archer doesn't count.

Putting him up against the current liars who inhabit Government from top to bottom, let alone Lord Mandelson, smacks of Cherie comparing her Tony to Winston this week.

Disgraceful desperation is the phrase you're looking for.

Thatcher makes Mandelson 'look like a saint.

Henceforth she shall be known as The Blessed Margaret, Worker of Miracles.

Macnasty said...

Terry
It cannot get much better than this - first Mandelson back in government and now rumour has it that Blunkett is also on his way back.

On past form, we could have the first Cabinet meeting, ever, to be brought to a halt by a police raid.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Anonymous) 04/10/08
I know that it can be frustrating for you but you shouldn’t let that lead you into making things up.
Perhaps you could point out to me where I said Mandelson was a member of Parliament ?

I am absolutely positive that he is entitled to be in the cabinet. Despite the fact that you don’t like him, should that worry me ?

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(mad mitch24) 04/10/08
It comes as no surprise that you and many others are seeing through the SNP.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Macnasty) 04/10/08

Archer doesn’t count because you are so insecure that you have to insist on writing the rules. I am not Tony’s biggest fan but, he is a vastly superior politician to the half witted inbred drunk Churchill who couldn’t be allowed out on his own because he was always drunk and senile to boot.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

Are you in favour of unelected rulers then?

Macnasty said...

'I am positive that he (Mandelson) is entitled to be in the Cabinet.'

Are you claiming that the sleaze charges that brought about his two resignations are bogus?

Macnasty said...

Kelly @ 5.49

Name me a Tory PM who has been questioned by the police, or senior Cabinet Minister who has had to resign for fraud or abuse of office and then been rewarded, as Mandelson was, by being made an EU Commissioner and then bribed back into loyalty by being given a seat at the top table and a peerage.
It stinks and you know it

Roll on Glenrothes

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

No. Mandelson does not become the ruler.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Macnasty) 18:32
What charges ? What have I missed ?

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Macnasty) 18:42

The Tory party are the most corrupt in the history of British politics.

Your question is framed in your own particular way designed to get the result you want. Consider this, after what happened to Hamilton of brown envelope fame, probably the most embarrassing case of corruption of them all. I would wager that his name would be top of the list if people were asked to name a politician involved in corruption yet, he was still the Tory candidate at the next election where he lost to the white suited journalist Martin Bell. now that proves my point, see, that’s me doing the same as you.

Macnasty said...

Kelly @ 6.59 & 7.40
You're wriggling Kelly and you know it.

If you 'missed' the charges against Mandelson, how can you claim they are bogus?

And against a PM who lied us into war and another who welcomes a fraudster into his cabinet with a peerage, the best you can come up with is a sad little Tory backbencher who took money from Harrod's and is now no longer an MP.

The last Tory sleazebag - Conway - had the whip taken away from him. Your Great Leader would have promoted him.

We deserve better than this lot of arrogant, incompetent chancers.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Macnasty) 12:21

What was he charged with ? It’s your use of the situation that is bogus, you seem to get mixed up easily when it suits you.

The name Hamilton is the most synonymous with corruption and he was allowed to stand again as a Tory candidate, I’m not a Blair fan but unlike you I’m not going to lie about him. He did not lie us into war.

Conway ? Haven’t you missed the European lot and the Treasurer ? You are definitely on the wrong ground here, keep it coming.

Macnasty said...

Don't split hairs, you old fraud. None of the Tories were high up the totem pole. And as for the treasurer, your man, Dromey, didn't cover himself in glory, did he?

Mandelson was forced to resign twice. The first time because of his inability to fill in a mortgage application honestly and the second time for trying to influence the Hinduja case.

Now, suddenly, he is Best Friend to the Son of the Manse, an unelected and therefore unaccountable Cabinet Minister and getting a peerage.

Personally, I love it, but the situation will not play well with those voters lacking a sense of humour.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Macnasty) 13:53
Fraud is it ? You are banging on about nothing once again you are either a liar or completely ignorant.

Macnasty said...

Kelly @ 2.45

C'mon Terry - Did Mandelson have to resign,(twice)for the reasons I gave or are they figments of my imagination?

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Macnasty) 16:34

I reckon that that question just about confirms that you are gubbed again.

He is certainly not the first politician to resign and won’t be the last but, you have repeatedly referred to charges against him ( it sounds more serious doesn’t it) and I have repeatedly asked you to tell us about the charges.

Well ? I detect a softening of your language, I wonder why.

Macnasty said...

'He's (Mandelson) not the first politician to resign.'

Dead right he isn't, but he's the first one to have to resign twice for dodgy dealing and then be invited back to the Cabinet.

So far as my use of 'charges' goes, do stop making yourself look an even bigger prat than usual, there's a good lad.You know exactly what I meant by it

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Macnasty) 18:18

“So far as my use of 'charges' goes, do stop making yourself look an even bigger prat than usual, there's a good lad.You know exactly what I meant by it”

Oh yes, I know exactly what you were doing with the word “charges” and that’s why your whole argument crumbles.

If you had one ounce of confidence in what you were saying you would not have felt it necessary to insert the lie about “charges” to beef up your bogus argument, as I said “gubbed again”

Macnasty said...

Tell me where I got it wrong about Mandelson

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Macnasty) 06/10/08

The “charges” you fool the “charges” you tried to beef up a weak argument by telling lies, you made a fool of yourself.

You also choose who is the most guilty to suit that same weak argument, hence Mandelson is regarded as worse than Hamilton. That doesn’t wash, you are pathetic.

Macnasty said...
