Why are no women allowed to comment here?

You've mentioned one being banned, you've called a black woman a liar for talking about racism but then no others have been allowed to comment.

Councillor are you a sexist?

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Patricia Devlin) 30/12/07 - You have just perfectly demonstrated why, it’s because they are thick.

'Women are thick.'

Dear oh dear - that's a cracker even by your high standards. Are you planning on pleading insanity or irony?

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Rabbie)01/01/08

I discussed this with some friends who keep up with my site and they all agreed that you would bite.

I don’t think you would get irony so, it was a joke but she, ‘Ms. Devlin’ started it.

Lovely to know I'm the subject of discussion in the salons of Paisley Cllr., but seriously,I think your 'women are thick' comment is going to play really, really badly if the SNP, Mossad, the Mormons or, heaven forbid, Wee Wendy get hold of it.

I don't believe your 'it's a joke' line is going to cut the mustard, especially with Wendy.

Nothing else for it Big Man, it's either a walk in the woods with a blunt knife and a bottle of paracetomol or an abject apology.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Rabbie) 16:15 -

If you are happy to keep making a fool of yourself I’ll keep printing you.

Terry,

Wendy Alexander is living proof that there are women on this planet who are considerably cleverer than you.

Anonymous said...

What a feeble excuse to try to extricate himself from another lumbering blundering display of his true thought processes. A simple apology would have been fine but Terry and Labour don't do apologies. (except to their colonial masters for losing Scotland)

Terry has 'friends'? I hope he's not taking advice off Wendy or Tommy.

Anonymous said...

So if someone had accused you of racism you'd have said blacks or Asians are thick would you?

Nah thought not. You might think women are a legitimate target but some of us regard them as equals.

Those of us committed to the struggle against oppression tend to reflect and respond sensitively when criticised by the people we defend. Any time you want to join us you'll be welcome Councillor.

Incidentally how is Richard Manser these days?

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Kara Drummond) 02/01/08 -

“Those of us committed to the struggle against oppression “ This is a wind up right ? If you don’t like the humour, take it up with Ms. Devlin she started it.

“the people we defend” who are ‘we’ ?

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Anonymous) 02/01/08 _

there are lots of women cleverer than me and men as well but, judging by your reaction you are not one of them.

Anonymous said...

Terry
Looks like I was right - 'It's just a joke' isn't working for you is it?

Forget my 'blunt knife and paracetemol walk in the woods' crack (THAT WAS A JOKE) and be a brave wee Councillor - aplogise.
Do it for Wendy.

Oh come on. Terry was clearly joking. He does not need to apologise.

Anonymous said...

So are you saying that sexist joke are okay? Do you also make racist jokes and if not what is the difference?

Anonymous said...

Who are 'we'. Lot's of folk Party members, feminists, anti-racists, queer activists, members of the public.

Until now I thought you stood in solidarity with us.

Try and reflect. Look at how many of womens concerns are dismissed because it was just a joke. How many gropes are dismissed because they are just a bit of fun. How many porno pics are displayed in hostile workplaces because only an uptight prude would object? How many women have been driven out politics because of attitudes like yours.

It's not on and you know it.

But how is Richard Manser?

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Kara Drummond) 04/01/08 -

“Who are 'we'. Lot's of folk Party members, feminists, anti-racists, queer activists, members of the public“. This describes me.

I was sent a comment asking why I didn’t print women on my blog, a deliberate attempt to wind me up so I wound back. I am absolutely confident that anyone who knows me knows it was a joke. I’m also confident that you are trying to make capital out of it so, who are we ? Why can’t you answer ? Party members ? Which Party ?

Why the obsession with Richard Manser, what has he done ?

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Anonymous) 04/01/08 -

No they are not and this was not a sexist joke it was a joke. An attempt to wound with humour someone who was trying to wind me up, I think you protest too much or is that sexist too ?

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Rabbie) 03/01/08 - I’ve had one other person who wrote to me accepting it was a joke but complained it was bad taste and you. Those who predicted that you would bite are loving your reaction.

Terry
I showed your post and comments to Dr Sigmund who treats me for the headaches and his reaction was 'Hells teeth, Kelly could make me famous.'
Why dont you just apologise, before the Daughters of Flora MacDonald (Paisley Branch)come for you with blunt claymores and blood in their eye?

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Rabbie) 04/01/08 -

Keep it coming, I should add that men are thick as well, that’s a predominantly Scottish thing though.

Jon said...

"I should add that men are thick as well."

As a male, albeit one otherwise abled, and indeed otherwise Scottish, I resent that remark.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Dennis) 05/01/08 - Quite right Dennis, you stand up for yourself.

"Feminists are just women who need a man around the house" - Jerry Falwell

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(the anti-Terry) 16:37

If I had thought that this would lead to you or any other feminist making such a bloody fool of themselves I would not have made the joke.

Anonymous said...

(Cllr Kelly 5.03)'....I wouldn't have made the joke.'

A bit like Wendy, Hain, Harman etc., if they'd known they would be caught, they wouldn't have taken the money.

Terry, you did not make a joke, you made a crass miscalculation.

Be manly, apologise and all will be forgiven.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Rabbie) 07/01/08 -

Today’s Herald has about 20 comments on this story some are joining in the fun but, most are attacking me and of course trying their best to link this to Wendy. None of them however have suggested that this was anything other than a joke.

Here’s a question for you - do you believe that I was serious when I said that women were thick or do you believe it was a joke ?

Anonymous said...

(Kelly @ 10.56)
Cllr, I believe that it was a damn stupid thing for a politician to say and only someone of your arrogance would be surprised at the outrage it caused.

Why dont you apologise for being a very silly boy, say 'Lessons have been learned,' draw a line under it and move on.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Rabbie) 15:55 -

If I persevere enough I can even get someone like you to tell the truth, you know as the rest of them do that it was a joke and it does not mean that I’m sexist, well done.

The bad news is you failed to tell the truth about ‘the outrage’ there is no outrage except the phoney one being worked up by the SNP, designed of course to get Wendy, if I hadn’t been Wendy’s agent in the past there would have been no story.

I suppose it’s too much to expect you to tackle the whole truth ?

Anonymous said...

Cllr, I'm bored with this, let us move on.
Please see my comment on your 'Desperate nasty people' post concerning your becoming Wendy's ex agent and attempt to give us a believable reason for this about turn

Tartan Hero said...

Terry - did someone introduce you to photoshop and replace Jack's head with Alex's for a laugh? You didn't seem too bothered about Jack's schmoozing of Donald Trump? Double standards? Shurely shome mishtake....

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Rabbie) 16:37 -

Go and read it - do you want me to believe that you didn’t notice me saying ‘umpteen’ times that I was not Wendy’s agent ?

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

(Tartan Hero) 17:40 -

I know you are not a second year pupil so why are you talking like this ?

Your comparison of Jack and Alex (the spiv) is a bit desperate.

Councillor,
As you are well aware from my earlier supportive comments on your blog I am a member of the Labour Party. Its true that I have some reservations about current policies but until your shameful outburst I thought we were on the same side.

As for what Richard Manser has done, I can't believe that you don't know. What he did to that young girl was all over the papers when the case was at court.
