Which politician would you be reading about if you read the following from the Register of Members Interests at Holyrood. "I consistently rank in the top ten of hardest working Scottish MPs". The hubris gives it away a wee bit ; it is of course Alex (the spiv) Salmond, he is not referring to how hard he works because of having two seats; he is bizarrely referring only to his Westminster seat; note the words “hardest working Scottish MP’s”
You would have to have the kind of arrogance that would make Mrs. Thatcher look like Mother Theresa to say such a thing knowing that it was a load of bulldung but; this is (the spiv) we are talking about here, the man who can strut while seated. But the (wee spiv) should have paid more attention to Scotland’s famous drunken workshy plagiarist Bobby Burns instead of displaying his counterfeit appreciation of him. The poet wrote once in a rare moment of sobriety and; when not delirious from some squalid infectious disease or other that "facts are chiels that winna ding,/An downa be disputed" or if you like; for the cod Burns fans and the dumb patriots the translation is, ‘But facts are fellows that will not be overturned,/And cannot be disputed’ not even it would seem by Alex (the spiv) Salmond.
His voting record covering his ‘two jobs’ period is the worst among Scottish MP’s; in the year 07/08 he was present for only 9.1% of votes, better only than Labour’s John MacDougall who was tragically afflicted by terminal cancer at this time. Also in that year he spoke in seven debates; one of the worst records in the house; his last comment in Westminster was a full year ago, he did not table a single question either; can this be described as cheating the system? Perhaps the thing which will make decent people recoil the most in all of this; is his grubby stunt of donating part of his salary to a children’s trust in his seat, why so? Well, the trust has his name on it that’s why; he clearly lives by the cynical self seeking maxim, “what’s the point of doing good if no one notices it” “Alex Salmond for First Minister” anyone? That’s not a bad ‘quid pro quo’ for money off his salaries is it; it’s not lost is it? he can spend tax payer’s money boosting his popularity what a guy, what a low life.
Are the people of Banff and Buchan OK with this? Let’s face it, leaving aside the stench of these donations they don’t really have an MP do they; they are being cheated and others are now asking the obvious question; why do they put up with it? Broken promises and lies to the electorate are not the half of it are they, this is grand larceny and he is once again treating the Scottish people and particularly the honest hard working people of Banff and Buchan with contempt.
All of this foul mess arose because he arrogantly made false claims about his performance at Westminster, already SNP fire fighters are trying to dampen this down with their stories about other politicians whom they claim have worse records, these smoke screens are irrelevant, the story here is the first minister’s lies and arrogance nothing else; Scotland’s First Minister and his unsavoury character is what is on show here and it doesn’t look good, it’s about lying to the people folks, it’s that simple.

The fact is councillor Kelly is that all the Scottish MP's at Westminster are getting paid to do nothing, every one of them. At least the SNP MP's do not vote on English bills plus they want rid of this sham.
There is a growing anti-Scottish backlash happening in England and it is because of all of these Scottish MP's that are voting on English matters, things that only affect the English MP's constituents and not their own.
Why should these Scottish MP's be getting paid a full-time wage when the Scottish Parliament does 70% of the work they used to do?
Get real councillor they are all getting paid to do NOTHING!
"its about lying to the people folks".
For a moment, Terry, I thought you were talking about Lies, WMD, War, the Labour Government and Oil.
Interesting, it's all a bit more clear when you read the actual register of interests and quite edifying to contrast and compare the likes of Iain Gray and Wendy ALexander's entries with the first minister.
For someone who clearly has no time for Burns, you do quote him a fair bit.
I'm starting to suspect though that you've built up a wee bit of antipathy towards the nationalists, as well as other 'wannabee' socialists, the tories and the many members of the Labour party who don't meet your exacting standards. I would have thought though that you Labourites might be a little more circumspect given the mess your own vain-glorious leader has wrought upon us.

“The fact is councillor Kelly is that all the Scottish MP's at Westminster are getting paid to do nothing”
The fact is that you have just done what the SNP spinners are doing; read my post again, I have clearly stated that this is about the arrogant liar who is the Scottish Parliament’s First Minister, Alex (the spiv) Salmond.
This is about his corrupt character nothing else.

If Salmond ( the spiv ) has defenders like you he is in trouble. You haven’t answered a single point.

“read the actual register of interests and quite edifying to contrast and compare the likes of Iain Gray and Wendy ALexander's entries with the first minister”
I can’t see the significance of this and it certainly has nothing whatsoever to do with my post.
“For someone who clearly has no time for Burns, you do quote him a fair bit”
I enjoy quoting Burns to annoy the clowns who believe it is their duty to admire him because he’s Scottish. I regard him as a fellow Socialist which is good but; it doesn’t alter the fact that he was a very poor excuse for a human being and also that most of his writing is C**p.
Read my last para. Again and try to stick to the point.
"I enjoy quoting Burns to annoy ...."
Ah, I see, you seem to take a great deal of pleasure from annoying folk. Is it really the sort of behaviour that we should expect from a town councillor?
As for sticking to the point? Are there some rules for commenting in this blog? I hadn't intended indulging you with discourse, I was simply commenting on your post, with the thoughts that occurred to me on reading it.
Perhaps though you might prefer to contrast and compare Jacqui Smith's use of tax payers money to fund her sister's mortgage with Salmond's contribution to charity. They're both Westminister MP's after all.
I think that the good people of Banff and Buchan are probably more than satisfied with the job the first minister does for them, and if not, didn't you state elswhere;
"I recognise that some people with a particular grievance might want to see a greater punishment than loss of power but who would decide when the Govt. had transgressed enough to be fined, barred or imprisoned? that kind of thing can only be done democratically hence the ballot survives in it’s present form."
Yes
It is very rich from someone from the Labour Party to talk about lies after the way they deceived the population over Iraq and causing the loss of so many civilian lives for no reason.

“Ah, I see, you seem to take a great deal of pleasure from annoying folk”
Absolutely Jim; here is something from another Jim.
“‘I have got a divine mission, I believe, to make men and women discontented. I am out to do it” (Jim Larkin) leader of the Irish TGWU 19 13 Dublin lock out) or this saying from the song book of the Industrial “Workers of the World” known as the ‘Wobblies’ “To fan the flames of discontent” I’m no Larkin but I agree with his ‘mission’ a great Socialist and a great man; he annoyed a great many people.
“As for sticking to the point”
So what is the ‘point’ if I’m going to write about something and you are going to comment and ignore everything I have written? You did not comment on my post at all.
You still haven’t said anything relevant to the article.
This is as I predicted in my last para. nothing to do with my article on Salmond (the spiv).
"I’m no Larkin but I agree with his ‘mission’ a great Socialist and a great man; he annoyed a great many people."
To what end did Larkin annoy people and what is your intention?
I think you're simply on the wind-up whilst Larkin fought for social justice - a bit of a cheek for you to try to associate your attacks on Burns with his efforts to achieve better pay and conditions for the workers.
(Jim) 14:00
“To what end did Larkin annoy people and what is your intention”
He was a great working class socialist leader an inspirational figure; the authorities locked him up several times, he was heroic.
My intention is to continue to annoy and agitate for a better society, a noble cause surely.
“your attacks on Burns”
Jim for god’s sake at east try some intellectual rigour just once; I have already sided with Burn’s politics; I have expressed admiration for his poems but; I loath the Burns ‘industry’ it is fake and it is cringe making;
IMO the majority of his work is garbage but there are gems among it.
If telling the truth as I see it about him is a crime then I plead guilty.
Here’s another agitator for you; and a far superior poet to Burns; am I allowed to say that? The poet is inspired here by the “Peterloo Massacre” if you haven’t read this then you must, you will bin Burns after reading it.
'Rise like Lions after slumber
In unvanquishable number,
Shake your chains to earth like dew
Which in sleep had fallen on you -
Ye are many - they are few.

"Intellectual Rigour" - you've a cheek indeed! I've read through your blog and there is certainly a recurring theme of attacks on the "2nd rate Ayrshire Palgiarist" as you often refer to Burns.
Now clearly this is some sort of wind up that you have running, but I'm asking whether it's really appropriate behaviour for an elected official.
Should a Scottish Labour councillor really be attacking the 'Burns industry' when tourism is so key to our economy?
Thanks for the Shelley reference though, I'll have a look out for that, but as I enjoy Burn's humour as much as his amorous efforts - which often pale compared to those of John Donne's - I'm unlikely to bin him after reading it.
(Jim) 15:35
The recurring attacks are a response to the claptrap which is regularly spouted by the Burns idiots, one of whom insisted on telling me that Burns was superior to Shakespeare.
“appropriate behaviour for an elected official”
Depends what kind of elected official you want, if you want one who will do as you tell him then don’t vote for me.
“Should a Scottish Labour councillor really be attacking the 'Burns industry”
I believe that everyone has a duty to attack lies; humbug and parochialism, I prefer the truth, more people should try it; those who make outrageous extravagant claims about someone’s ability or talent because of their birth place would be a good place to start.
"I prefer the truth"
Terry,
Your ventures into satire are truly magnificent.

I remember your past comments – people who live in glass houses etc.
Forget Burns and Shelley, you want a bit of modernism for the cold February mornings:
The Red Wheelbarrow
so much depends

a red wheel
barrow
glazed with rain
water
beside the white
chickens.
William Carlos Williams. Ca classe.
13 Primary schools and 12 nurseries to close in Glasgow.
Oh my goodness. It must be those education hating Gnats.
Oh but wait a minute. Its not the Gnats. But who is it?
ITS LABOUR - THE CHAMPIONS OF EDUCATION AND THE PARTY OF THE PEOPLE
Steven Purcell, Leader of Glasgow City Council, said:
"I want to be absolutely clear that this is not financially-driven. It makes no sense to manage half-empty buildings but every penny we will save in this exercise will be reinvested in the establishments the pupils transfer to."
mmmm starting to remember the South Primary debate!
(Hemmerfru) 24/02/09
Each to his own I suppose; I’m a big fan of Joyce so I’m not about to slate a writer because I miss out on their particular style or efforts.
I’m reminded though of an interview given by the American singer/song writer Don Mclean, I’m a big fan of his too. He was asked to explain the words and images thrown up by his classic song “American Pie” “the devil on the sidelines in a cast, the quartet practiced in the park, the jester sang for the king and queen in a coat he borrowed from James Dean” etc. etc.
He was asked; “what does it all mean” to which he replied after considering it “ I guess it means I’ll never have to work again”
Obviously a guy with a clear voice and a clear head and; a complete lack of pretentiousness.
(Alan) 24/02/09
You don’t seem to be following this debate at all; either that or you are unable to understand or unwilling to understand the differences.
You will not find anywhere a suggestion from me or Labour that no school should ever close, if you work hard enough you will find that I am on record as saying that Labour in Renfrewshire closed schools and I supported their closure, we also of course built 10 new schools and set in train the renovation of all the others.
“every penny we will save in this exercise will be reinvested in education” S. Purcell.
Check with Renfrewshire Ed. Dept. and the SNP administration and you will find that the reason for the South Closure was money, no one from the administration has ever tried to claim otherwise.
They close the school and rather than reinvest they cut a further £2.5m. from the education budget making it £6.9m in two years, rather damning to any open mind don’t you think?
"Glasgow City Council has just announced a major program of school closures. This will allow the Council to save £3.72m estimate per year eventually, less the £0.25m extra cost of bussing children to the surviving schools, a net saving of £3.5m per year."
MAYBE IT IS JUST ABOUT MONEY!
(Alan) 4.21 pm.
I paraphrase S.Purcell
“this is not about money, every penny saved will go back into education”
Are you a fan of pantomime by any chance?
Actually if you look into this properly you will see that the money saved in the first year will be put into the schools that the children are moving to in order that they can accomodate them.
This is just a shuffle around of the money
Thereafter in future years the money saved will be a cut to the education budget of 3.7 million pounds.
(Ryan Connolly) 11:17
Mr. Purcell states that this is not about saving money and that all savings will go into education; you are quite entitled to state that you do not believe him but; that is all you can say.
Why should anyone believe you? I think that you admitted recently that you are a Tory didn’t you? So who should I believe? It’s a difficult one isn’t it?
I agree Terry.
Most thing are difficult for you to understand.
That's why your blog rarely makes any sense
(Ryan Connolly) 27/02/09
I do my best to make sense Ryan; but in your case I can only say I’m not Helen Keller.
