Some pathetic and inadequate characters write comments to me, one such is ‘Edgar’. He accuses me of getting one of my Daughters to write for me saying that he can tell by the better grammar and spelling. He also points out that she has made a grammatical mistake, she did in fact write up a piece which I dictated when I was away.
Wouldn’t it be ironic then if he had also made, etc. Yes you’ve guessed it. My daughter’s piece below rather humiliates him, she retaliates where I don’t bother. I’m quite happy to ignore the mistakes which abound in what is written to me as long as I can understand what the writer means. ‘Edgar’ however is so bereft of argument that he is reduced to looking for spelling mistakes - perhaps he thinks that spotting a mistake in grammar or spelling means he has somehow won an argument.
I have asked the daughter who wrote the piece to check for me if she really did get an ’A’ for Higher English and an Honours Degree in English from Glasgow University, just in case she has been lying to me for the past ten years. She is inconsolable at her blunder. She has read past comments from ’Edgar’ and is humiliated at someone like him finding she made a mistake.
THE OTHER DAUGHTER
In response to ‘edgar’ who is factually correct in his post of November 26th outlining my grammatical errors whilst typing up an article for my father’s blog.
I am suitably embarrassed by my mistake and, as you will see, have asked my father to rectify this.
Thank you for bringing these inaccuracies to my attention.
I can only say in my defence that I did not take the time to proof read my typing carefully enough before submitting it. I put this down to lack of experience on my part - I do not ‘blog’ nor do I post comments on the blogs of others and as such was unaware of the scrutiny it would be subjected to.
That said, I was surprised to find that as such a harsh critic of my syntax, several of the previous comments you have posted in response to articles on my father’s blog contained both spelling and grammatical errors. You who I can only conclude from your past contributions to my father’s website have far more practice in this field of expertise than myself.
On Thursday the 13th November you wrote “3. The facilities in Feguslie’ and ‘Why is the Apex centre need when you can have’. I presume you meant ‘Ferguslie’ and ‘needed’?
In addition the first sentence in your post of Thursday 8th November is bereft of a question mark. I could go on but feel I have made my point - people in glass houses really shouldn’t throw stones.
Perhaps in future your purpose would be better served by sticking to debating the political differences you have with my father, or indeed my sister, with regards to the content of their articles rather than attempting to make petty and personal attacks on the linguistic form and style of their writing?

I've touched a nerve here and I am so sorry.
The point that i was really trying to outline was that this was not Terry posting and was therefore a deception.
The references to syntax and grammar were made only to show that this was the case.
We all make these mistakes now and then and I hold my hands up to that too. I, however, do not employ anyone to do my dirty work and try to pass it off as my own.
This is a Labour trait.
It is abundantly clear from the blog history, that Terry only posts during council working hours and is therefore abusing the use of his council computer.
His general illiteracy, lack of grammar and punctuation, typifies his posts and that is why it was so clear that the post was not made by him even if he supplied some of the info.
Apart from all that, the subject of the post was so irrelevant and was so clearly an infantile attempt to make an unsubstantiated point that the whole thing was laughable and is now doing the rounds within the council.
It has never bein mi intension to ofend anibody (translated into Terryspeak)
i think what you will find is that there is no argument. you are incapable of debate. so we just take the piss out of you now.
just like your council collegues when your back is turned.
I can only say in my defence that I did not take the time to proof read my typing carefully enough before submitting it.
No real need to submit a defence given that it's a Labour blog. Doesn't the fact that it wasn't an intentional mistake / crime cover all in the world of Nu-Labour?
"Oh Wendy, Wendy what went wrong oh so wrong..."
Sorry, but thought you might appreciate one of my favourite Beach Boys lyrics!
Seriously though, having had dealings with Charlie Gordon in another context he is the proverbial "wide-boy" who would 'shoot his granny' if he thought it could further his career. He things by bullying and bluster he can get what he wants. Not this time Charlie Boy!
Mo
Sorry, this is a bit off topic.
I have been surprised not to see any reference on your blog to the current plight of Wendy Alexander.
I know you were her election agent so assume you must be following her predicament closely.
Do you think she should resign? Do you feel she has acted illegally?
It would be interesting to know the views of someone as close to her camp as yourself.
A proper analysis of the content would have given it away - it would have been "Eagle" (rather than "Dan Dare") in your day and, making the odd assumption here, "2000AD" in "THE OTHER DAUGHTER"'s.
It has to be said that a significant part of the amusement of this blog has been the textual, literary and side-channel analysis - especially of the comments. 'Edgar', whoever they may be, was at least correct that it were not thee (<- deliberate antique grammar in a vague attempt at humour) that blogged.
If you read the comment correctly, It would appear that edgar is actually complimenting the author of the post in comparison to the usual drivel that is served up by Cllr Kelly
Terry,
can you officially end any speculation and confirm that you are not in the frame to be the next MSP for Glasgow Cathcart?
Terry,
Is it true that you have been censured and are no longer allowed to post to your blog without higher approval from the Labour Party.
It seems you have been causing some embarassment.
(edgar) 02/12/07 - yes you got this badly wrong and now you are blustering. You’re not quite as clever as you like to think are you ?
(3245Shrek-3245Shrek) 03/12/07 - do you want to try this again ? No wonder you’re anonymous
(The Incorrigible Plagiarist) 03/12/07 read previous comment on this.
(Mo) 03/12/07 - I’ve never met the man.
(The Creator) 03/12/07 - resign ? No. acted illegally ? No.
(Surreptitious Evil) 03/12/07 - ‘edgar’ made a blunder didn’t he.
(Maxum) 04/12/07 ‘edgar got it wrong’ just like you lot who are trying to rescue him.
(Anonymous) 04/12/07 - Cathcart ? No. Downing Street ? wellll
(Anonymous) 05/12/07 - no.
Incorrect Terry. I was absolutely correct and your comments and that of your "other daughter" are laughable.
Whilst ascertaining Higher and Honors Degree Englsh, I would have thought that some attention would have been paid to English interpretation.
The fact that my comment has been interpreted as personal attack would suggest that a refresher course is required in this area.
"In response to ‘edgar’ who is factually correct in his post of November 26th outlining my grammatical errors whilst typing up an article for my father’s blog.
Taking the first sentence as an example of the writer's expertise in the English language, I'm not very impressed. It makes no grammatical sense. The article continues in the same vein. Perhaps one might be tempted to peruse one's study notes from one's 'Honours Degree in English before one lectures on the subject.
(edgar) 07/12/07 - caught out and wriggling.
(Jim Lewis) 09/12/07 - It makes no sense to you Jim, why does that not surprise me.
You misunderstood Terry. I perfectly understand the tenor of the post. What I actually said was that the first sentence made no GRAMMATICAL sense. I stand by that, and challenge you to make sense of it. The sentence stops in the middle. It has no end. Make me a liar.
Jim Lewis
(Anonymous) 12/12/07 - Jim it makes no sense to you, do you really want to try again, you know what happened the last time don’t you ? Have you forgotten your despair and blubbering already ?
As before, I rest my case. Unable to answer, given your own command of the English language, you revert to type. Your grasp of grammatical rules seem to be somewhat akin to the young lady lecturing on the subject. I repeated twice that the post is decipherable, but that it makes no grammatical sense. I await your reply to the point I made, breath definitely not held. Perhaps if you feel overwhelmed by the Mother Tongue, your daughter might attempt an asnwer.
Jim Lewis - Do yourself a favour and stay away, you know what happened the last time.
I don't want to be responsible for you unravelling again, I'm not interested in how someone writes I'm content if I can understand them.
You may not think so but I went easy on you the last time because I could tell that you were a bit fragile but I've only got so much patience.
Thought so.
(Jim Lewis) 19/12/07 Thought so - Me too.
