THE BELEAGURED REFUGEES ARE IN "NEED OF A NEIGHBOUR". WILL YOU HELP OR CROSS ON THE OTHER SIDE?.

When I hear those Christian hypocrites like Prime Minister David Cameron make his squalid remarks about refugees, I think of the great Christian and Quaker Sydney Carter who wrote this song called “When I needed a neighbour” He is better known for writing the phenomenally popular “Lord of the dance” but this song speaks directly to those who are concerned by the refugee crisis and hopefully genuine Christians everywhere as well as people of every race, creed and colour and those who are not religious as well will empathise with it.

When I needed a neighbour
Were you there, were you there?
When I needed a neighbour
Were you there?
And the creed and the colour
And the name won't matter
Were you there?

I was hungry and thirsty
Were you there, were you there?
I was hungry and thirsty
Were you there?
And the creed and the colour
And the name won't matter
Were you there?

I was cold, I was naked
Were you there, were you there?
I was cold, I was naked
Were you there?
And the creed and the colour
And the name won't matter
Were you there?

When I needed a shelter
Were you there, were you there?
When I needed a shelter
Were you there?
And the creed and the colour
And the name won't matter
Were you there?

When I needed a healer
Were you there, were you there?
When I needed a healer
Were you there?
And the creed and the colour
And the name won't matter
Were you there?

Wherever you travel
I'll be there, I'll be there.
Wherever you travel
I'll be there.
And the creed and the colour
And the name won't matter

I'll be there.

Empathising and sorry thoughts are no f'ing good Mr Kelly. Get your act together with whatever networks you have - Labour Party, Catholic Church, Renfrewshire council etc.

And even now you can't find anything positive to say, nothing encouraging. You sick in the head evil anonymous bastard.

Think I might just report your response to Renf. Council, as I have been recommended to do.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

I think you just might not you spineless low life piece of rubbish.

Oh dear, just a step too far I fear Terry. We will see what transpires. Oh, and I am not anonymous by desire or intent.
Your wee blog spot needs some updating to allow access.

I think I've got your number all right Mr. anonymous, I look forward to taking you on.

@ Anonymous- I have debated and disagreed with Cllr Kelly many times on his blog, disagree with most of his politics, vowed not to comment on his blog again but I have to respond to you sir/madam (anonymous). To turn an honest heart felt blog on something that is a disgrace to humanity, into an personal attack is just reprehensible. Cllr Kelly can defend himself and I am not trying to do so but I would invite you anonymous to say whether or not you agree with the sentiments in the original blog. As for me I wept when I saw the photographs, weep and pray constantly for the world that we all inhabit and will continue to do so. I try to make a difference in other ways as well but they are private and personal. I would encourage everyone everywhere to try to make your own corner of this world a better place by offering a helping hand to someone today as I'm sure Cllr Kelly does.

been following your blog for while through wings and I disagree with most of it. I am probably a Scot nat as you would think, and I consider you a Brit nat.
I don't want border fences or barriers just different political solutions to the country (Scotland)that I live in. But in your last couple of posts I have fully agreed with you. Not going to vote for the Labour party anytime soon mind!

john donnelly said...

You seem to be a better man than I thought sir. Still not voting for the labour party anytime soon.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

Actually I'm a very nice guy with strong opinions that's why I oppose nationalism which is not nice at all.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

I am not a nat of any kind Mr. donnelly I am an internationalist. I don't believe there is any need for different solutions between people who are essentially the same, we are no different from anyone else in the UK and indeed the rest of the world, the vast majority of us want the same things.

john donnelly said...

Fine sir and to an extent I agree. but your argument seems to mean that Scotland doesn't exist, and then neither does Spain, France, Brazil, Italy, Canada Etc. You can see where I'm going. I take it you believe in only planetary nationalism!

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

They all matter Mr donnelly but not one single one including Scotland matters more than the rest.

I see you are reduced to having a conversation with yourself now Terry, that way madness lies.

Your new found piety is too little too late, where was your voice during the Blair years?

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

Rather telling that you ignore the refugees, what does that make you?. The stats on this blog prove unequivocally that I am not conversing with myself and during the Blair years I was doing my best to fight for Socialism as I always have and always will.

Just a wee update to say your intemperate language has been reported, Councillor.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

You are an anonymous liar and coward.

Mr Cllr, one of your better blogs and I agree with your position wholeheartedly in this instance. I see that your apparent dignity did not extend to the fine words of our first minister in showing the Scottish goverments support in "doing all it can" to help with this horrible humanitarian crisis. Do you agree that the Scottish government are quite correct in taking this stance?

I look forward to your wise words and I hope not to be abused as you did with the above person or that poor fellows children.

Cllr Terry Kelly said...

You are trying too hard Mr. Anonymous. If you read the article carefully you will see that I only mention one person by name and that was David Cameron. If your command of the English was a bit better you would know that I did not abuse that poor fellow's children, standards are slipping the journalist's command of English is no better than yours he didn't read it right either.
