SNP GOVT. DISPLAY THEIR PETTY HATRED FOR LOW PAID SCOTTISH WORKERS AND THE TRADE UNION MOVEMENT AGAIN OVER "THE LIVING WAGE".

Any hopes that the hatred of the unions long demonstrated by the snp would dissipate following the exit of union hater in chief alex salmond has been dealt another blow over the living wage. The snp government in a spiteful will now deliberately punish low earners in retaliation for the £1.5 Million donation to the general election fighting fund to the Labour Party by the UNITE UNION. Make no mistake about it the snp are every bit as anti trade union as their Tory friends and their fellow nationalists in UKIP, here is the union response to the snp’s latest sell out and betrayal of the Scottish low paid workers.

STUC Anger at Scottish Government Delay on Living Wage Guidance January 30th 2015 The Scottish Trades Union Congress has reacted angrily at proposals by the Scottish Government to delay the introduction of statutory Scottish Government Guidance on the Living Wage. Grahame Smith, STUC General Secretary said
“We are deeply disappointed that the Scottish Government has failed to deliver on its previous promise to consult on statutory guidance on promoting a Scottish Living Wage through procurement of public sector contracts.
“The STUC were always of the view the Scottish Government misinterpreted EU regulations and ECJ case law and was, as a consequence overly cautious in its approach to the potential for the inclusion of Living Wage clauses in public contracts although we were somewhat comforted by the fact that the Scottish Government committed to a consultation on the issue, we presumed this would be sooner rather than later.
“We accept statutory guidance is still on the table but our anger is at the timescale proposed and it is unlikely we will see such guidance until 18 months after the Procurement Reform Act has been passed and we consider this a serious breach of faith and are calling for a meeting with the Scottish Government to discuss this as a matter of urgency.
“Workers on low pay need lifted out of poverty now and very few contractors delivering goods and services to Scottish public bodies are living wage accredited employers. All too often the reason for non-accreditation is uncertainty over procurement rules and that progress cannot be made until Statutory Guidance is issued.

“The Scottish Government needs to rethink this timetable urgently, proposed non-statutory guidance will not force public bodies to address poverty wages in companies seeking public sector contracts, only well promoted and statutory guidance will achieve the commendable aim of the Scottish Government for the Scottish public sector to be a champion of the Scottish Living Wage.

remind me please. What have the trade unions and the labour party done about zero hour contracts and the minimum wage losing pace with inflation?
oh that's right nothing the labour party are too busy filing through the commons voting for the austerity programme.
And the trade unions can do nothing because thatcher pulled their teeth and 13 years of blair and brown wasn't enough time to restore their power.
it's hard sometimes to understand whether you are a fool or a liar, it appears both.

The Labour Party and the Trade Unions are not in power bozo. After Thatcher was put in power by the snp the Tories enacted 25 pieces of anti trade union legislation, when Labour were re elected we removed 23 of those 25 pieces of anti union legislation and did a good job protecting the poor, the snp are actively preventing changes that will get rid of zero hours contracts. Labour agrees that the deficit has to be reduced but only a liar or an idiot or someone like you who is both would suggest that Labour agrees with the Tories on austerity.

'The Labour Party and the Trade Unions are not in power bozo'
wow where does one start.
The labour party were in power for 13 years at Uk level and did sweet fa about restoring the unions power.
Have you not heard that rubbish about the snp putting thatcher in power was ridiculed by Jim Callaghan, do you remember him he was a socialist prime minister at the time.

The number of people living below the poverty line following 13 years of labour in power was twice what it was when they entered govt.

18 'scottish' labour MP's voted against the £30 billion austerity package 28 'scottish' labour mp's voted for it.
I believe but i could be wrong that all 46 of them voted FOR their 11% pay rise.
I don't expect you to post any of this terry we don't want any nasty truths to get out there do we?

"Thatcher was put in power by the snp"

What a ridiculous statement to make. Thatcher was "put in power" by the electorate surely and even if the Labour Government had won the vote of no confidence and struggled on are you seriously suggesting Labour would then have won the election. As a matter of interest I believe Jim Callaghan in his memoirs blamed his own (Labour) MP's for the vote by forcing through an amendment to the devolution debate which made it impossible to achieve. Quotes from his memoirs "It was the adverse effect of the two Devolution referenda in Scotland and Wales that finally ended the Government’s life".

So why then did 233 Labour MPs vote for the Tory austerity plan in 2012
and
the Majority of Labour MPs in vote for the addtional £30 bn of cuts

If they really are the party of the poor?

“The snp joining the Tories to bring down the Labour government is the first recorded example of turkeys voting early for Christmas” James Callaghan. At the election caused by the snp’s treachery the 11 snp MP’S were reduced to 2, you might lie to yourself but the Scottish people were not fooled, they knew that the snp had ratted on the Scottish people. The last Labour Government got rid of 23 out of 25 pieces of Tory anti union legislation, go and check it out. A very influential report on the last Labour Government was produced about a year ago by The London School of Economics and it concluded that the Labour Government did a good job for the unions and for the poor, again you can check it out. Anyone who thinks that the Labour Party shares the Tory Government’s attitude to austerity is either a liar or an idiot or perhaps in your case both. You are worse than an snp liar you are also a clown.

Here is a question for you Mr. Jones, if the snp did nothing wrong when they joined the Tories in the lobbies and brought us Thatcher the night the Labour government were brought down why did the Scottish people slaughter them at the election by reducing the ‘parcel of rogues’ from 11 snp MP’S to 2. The Scottish voters seemed to agree with me didn’t they?.

The snp were guilty of betraying the Scottish people, how can you defend them, how do you live with the shame?.

Perhaps this is too complicated for you Mr. Wood, perhaps you really are as dumb as you appear to be. You seem to be saying that Labour will pay for austerity in the same way as the Tories will. The Tories will punish the poor and the disaffected and Labour will do the same?, The Tories will make sure that the rich escape paying the bill, and Labour will do the same?. Your an idiot right?.

That's "You're an idiot, right?"

Come on Mr Kelly.

Go on show some humility and post that the man, the myth, the legend that is Terry Kelly does indeed make mistakes... sometimes... too fool the Idiots.

We all make mistakes, check your own posts Mr. Smith. Can we get back to the point now "The Tories will make sure that the rich escape paying the bill, and Labour will do the same?. Have I got that right, that's what you are saying right?, idiot.

Cllr Kelly said - (The snp were guilty of betraying the Scottish people, how can you defend them, how do you live with the shame?) Apologies for the delay in responding Cllr. However with respect the party who betrayed the people of Scotland were the labour MP's who forced through the 40% rule for the 1978 devolution vote, which meant that dead people counted as no votes and made it impossible to have a fair vote. How can you live with the shame?. Jim Callaghan said of the amendment "This provision was carried by a majority of fifteen, with as many as thirty-four Labour Members voting against the Government. I have since wondered whether those thirty-four Labour Members would have voted as they did if they had been able to foresee that their votes on that evening would precipitate a General Election in 1979, at the least favourable time for their Government.” "It was the adverse effect of the two Devolution referenda in Scotland and Wales that finally ended the Government’s life" Jim Callaghan's memoirs). You are correct though that the people of Scotland blamed the snp, voted with their feet, and the snp paid the price for siding with the Tories in the vote of no confidence(although they had no choice after the Labour MP 40% amendment). I believe that(as the polls suggest) the Labour party in Scotland will also pay the price (in May this year) for siding with the Tories. Simply put Cllr I believe the Labour party over a number of years has "sold the jerseys", by forgotting their working class roots, abandoning their principles and of that I am ashamed.

Why did the Scottish people decimate the snp group at Westminster at the election caused by their decision to vote against the Labour government?.

You are trying to rewrite history and it won't work, the actions of the treacherous snp MP's was the catalyst that brought the destruction of industries like steel and coal. The devastation brought about by Thatcher will shame the snp forever.

This is Terry Kelly nephew and yes I did vote for yes in September and I do have friends who are SNP members. However me saying this there a point where I have my eye opened to things call it just being young and exploring.
Sometimes what we youth do sometimes do not all ways make the right decision sometimes we do make mistakes.
So right now with party's I am completely with the middle with but I am also on the edge of whether I should just stick to labour.
As my family has also been strong labour supporters at least you know what you voting for with labour so it is where my thought are right now.
I am also strong Green Party supporter as I am artist and artists tend to care for the environment I am actually surprised not many out there are green party supporters that my question.
Finally when come down to knowing about anything politics I heard the amount people opinions and rants on facebook and twitter which they always came across they know about politics.
But when came down to it the best person to know anything about politics would be my Uncle Terry.
His blog at the time of referendum everyone is social media came across yes was already winning.
However the only person that was remaining realistic throughout all of it was my ungle terry and I know sometime not everyone agree what he say. Some will call him all sorts but truth is he's more brutally honest, Genunie and real than most people out there and from now on when come to politics I will trust what he say's to any one else

James, I'm delighted to see you are taking an interest in politics. One of the problems our society has is too many people not showing an interest.

I believe that people in the artistic community should always be involved in politics. Their job is to entertain, to create and to reflect what is happening in our society, history tells us that many members of the artistic community all over the world have often paid a heavy price for reflecting the truth as they see it. Consider the works of the revolutionary poet Shelley, the indomitable spirit of Paul Robeson and his struggle for equality for black Americans and the images of workers living in grinding poverty painted by Van Gogh, the horror of war in Picasso's Guernica and the bravery of our old friend George Grosz who heroically ridiculed the Nazis and Hitler in his native Germany. Keep painting and keep asking questions James.

James Kelly said "from now on when come to politics I will trust what he [Uncle Terry] say's to any one else". James, if you have followed his blogs you will know I disagree with your Uncle quite often. However I am happy to agree and support his statement " keep asking questions". Look at the arguments from all sides including asking your Uncle Terry for his views, make up your own mind and vote accordingly. For the record sometimes us "older heads" make mistakes also but that is how we all learn. Having read your post of 7th October 2014 on your own blog I am sorry to read that you are drawing a line under the whole aspect of politics as you were finding it overwhelming. I agree with Cllr Kelly that "One of the problems our society has is too many people not showing an interest [in politics]". Nothing wrong with healthy debate as long as it doesn't have a detrimental effect on your health or becomes abusive and personal, so I wanted to thank you for your refreshingly honest, forthright post and I hope to read more from you in the future.
