SNP ON THE SIDE OF THE SCOTTISH WORKERS? NOT IF YOU ARE A VICTIMISED MINER. THEY HAVE JUST BETRAYED THEM WITH THE HELP OF THE TORIES. NO CHANGE THERE THEN.

Just a couple of days ago I watched with interest the progress of the campaign for justice on behalf of the Liverpool Football fans who lost their lives or were injured at Hillsborough. The campaign was based on a search for the truth about what happened and an enquiry was granted in to the actions of the police and their behaviour which has been questioned since the tragedy happened. Rather than rehearse the arguments again I will just say that the families of the supporters have been vindicated and the enquiry condemned the police actions and we will hear more about this in future. This result has been greeted with acclaim by ordinary people everywhere as a victory for truth and justice.

What then are we to make of the snp Scottish Government's decision to reject a similar enquiry in to the behaviour of the police during the coal dispute of 19 83 to 19 84? 200 miners lost their jobs and 500 found themselves with criminal records for defending their communities from Tory attack and the accusations of the mining communities have never gone away. The success of the Hillsborough enquiry gave the miners and their families hope of a similar enquiry being granted here by the Snp Government but, the snp chose to dash those hopes with a rejection. For a party which persistently and bogusly claims to care about the Scottish people this is a huge snp betrayal, there is no other way to describe it, they have stabbed the Scottish mining communities in the back and in doing so betrayed Scotland as well.

During the dispute people were denied the right to travel, police operated without identification, spurious charges were made, police ran riot with horses and batons, huge lorries were allowed to go charging through towns and villages carrying scab coal at excessive and dangerous speed with impunity and, it was all planned and coordinated by a right wing Tory Government at 10 Downing Street. This was the British state crushing workers rights so why are the snp refusing to expose them? Why are the snp not willing to act against the UK state when they have a case against them? One would think that this is a godsend for their anti English/British agenda so why? Something smells rotten here.

The National Union of Mineworkers was the backbone of the labour movement and as such they were and still are unfortunately as loathed by the snp as they were and still are by the Tories. Along with the Labour Party, other Unions and various Socialist societies they are what organised labour is all about and the snp have always harboured a deep hatred for the miners and the other trade unions. The snp see the wider labour Movement as traitors to Scotland because they have never bought in to the snp's small constricted nationalist agenda. The idea of Trade Unionism is International, it recognises no barriers and that is anathema to nationalists. The trade unionist reaches out to all workers no matter what colour, race or creed he or she is they do not care what nationality someone is only that they are a brother or sister. That is why the snp hate trade unionism and it's also why they have betrayed the Scottish miners and the rest of Scotland too on this very important issue. Consider the fact that the minister responsible for granting the request for an enquiry Kenny MacAskill did not even bother to attend the debate. They (the snp) could hardly make their contempt for the Trade Union Movement clearer. This is the true face of nationalism and separation and it is deeply ugly, these are the kind of people who want to run Scotland and make it a place where hatred of non Scots. especially English people is fostered, a backward pinched face place separation from the rest of the world.. If thousands of people from the Scottish coalfield communities can't get support from the Scottish snp government just what kind of people are the snp?

Labour MSP John Finnie's motion for an independent enquiry in to the behaviour of the UK national Police Force including the Scottish Police Force during the coal dispute was voted down by the snp in Holyrood aided by the Tories, how did your snp MSP vote? Don't you want to find out? Write to them and ask.

Been quiet for a while Mr Kelly.
Maybe you thought it best to let it calm down after Milliband endorses replacing Trident and your party stabs the poor in the back on the jobseekers bill. Only 40 of your Westminster Labour colleagues voted against it.
The others voted for it or didn't turn up. Some protectors of the poor, eh?
By the way, it is Avanti Popolo - not avanti poplo but I suppose the modern Labour party doesn't believe in putting the people forward.

I wrote a lengthy post on March 19th, 2 days before you penned this disingenuous drivel. It was about the betrayal of the victimed Scottish Miners by the snp Government. Have you nothing to say about that, it's quite topical you know, if you don't have your head up your arse that is.

Ewen said...

I'll have something to say about that when you comment on the topical trident and jobseekers issue. I doubt you will though as you prefer to hide behind insults
FYI. I'm not a member of any political party and supported the miners in 83/84. I'd just like to know where you and your party stand in 2013 in regard to protecting the poor and vulnerable and the obscenity that is trident.

Ewen said...

Furthermore, here is a list of what your party has abstained on
On retrospectively depriving workfare victims of compensation

On the right of civil servants to strike

On rejecting the siting of nuclear weapons in Scotland
(see also the renewal of Trident, in both 2010 and 2007)On condemning the Iraq war

On free tuition for students

On minimum pricing of alcohol

On opposing the 50p-rate tax cut

On opposing savage cuts to public-sector pensions

On stopping fuel-duty increases

On maintaining concessionary bus travel for the elderly

On massive pay rises for councillors

On the criminalisation of squatting

On reducing VAT from 20% to 17.5%

On the Scottish budget

You aren't really opposing much and by your apathy are letting the Tories attack the people.
Can you explain this or is your head in the sand........or up your own arse.

“I'd just like to know where you and your party stand in 2013 in regard to protecting the poor and vulnerable and the obscenity that is trident”

That’s an easy one. We are 100 % committed to protecting the poor and vulnerable and 100 % against nuclear weapons. Now what about the snp and the victimised miners?

"We are 100 % committed to protecting the poor and vulnerable and 100 % against nuclear weapons."

Jim murphy doesn't want Trident?
Strange how he tweeted

"Re FT today. Labour will retain credible independent nuclear deterrent.Wl judge policy on capability and cost. "

And furthermore Johann Lamont voted against the motion
there is no justification for the renewal or replacement of the Trident nuclear weapons system
in 2007

Then there was my comment with list of Labour abstentions which you haven't published yet. An abstention lets the Tories run through bills with no opposition. I cannot for the life of me see how this equates to a 100% commitment to protecting the poor and being against nuclear weapons.

As for the SNP and the victimised miners. I am 100% behind the victimised miners.

On the charge of refusing compensation for workfare victims the Labour Party has decided to use a different strategy, not one I agree with but our policy is not one of making people work for dole money. I am not aware of labour denying civil servants the right to strike, please explain. On Trident labour are right and we are against nuclear weapons. On the Iraq war some condemn it some don’t. On free University Tuition Labour are right, those who can afford to pay should do so, those who can’t should get fees paid for them. On minimum pricing for alcohol, we are right, it is a cheap snp stunt designed to get the support of the gullible. Labour oppose the Tories on the 50% tax cut. Labour do not support savage cuts to civil service pensions. Fuel duty increases are no bad thing in my opinion. Concessionary travel should be available to those who need it not those who don’t. Massive pay rises for councillors? I am in favour of pay rises for councillors but not massive ones. The target of providing proper housing for all is not advanced by sanctioning squatting.

Labour are opposed to Nuclear Weapons, I thought that was easy to understand, If disagreeing with you is a crime then I am guilty but happy. “An abstention lets the Tories run through bills with no opposition” This is perhaps true if you are one of the gullible people whom I refer to in my answer to minimum pricing. “I cannot for the life of me see how this equates to a 100% commitment to protecting the poor and being against nuclear weapons” When you are incapable or unwilling when it comes to understanding something it is much more honest to just say I disagree because I don’t like you or Labour. I am glad that you are 100% behind the victimised miners, now what have you to say about the snp Scottish Government’s decision to deny them a public enquiry?

Ewen said...

I think Holyrood should allow an inquiry into the behaviour of the Scottish police force but can't see how they'd be able to get an inquiry into the UK Force as a whole as they have no mandate to do so in the rest of the UK.
Not all labour members are against Nuclear weapons Your parliamentary party seem to be all for Trident. How can you be against Nuclear weapons and yet allow Trident?

Civil servants and strike action

http://union-news.co.uk/2013/03/civili-servants-to-be-banned-from-taking-strike-action/

"Following John McDonnell’s intervention, Labour MPs on the committee abstained on the clause, although Tories and Lib Dems voted in favour."

Why didn't they vote against it?

Fuel duty increases are no bad thing? This will encourage the rise in the cost of food in our shops. Most freight in the UK is carried by road.
I just don't see that Labour is a socialist party any more. That is my opinion and I'll stick by it and I think quite a few are starting to think the same as me. If you don't agree then fine. I'd suggest that you are incapable and unwilling to see just how your party has lurched to the right.
Your party is betraying the workers by not fighting for him in either Parliament. Your party are pandering to the voters who voted in the Tory/Lib Government.
Your party is bereft of their founding principles and manned at it's highest levels by career politicians who haven't a socialist bone in their body.

“I think Holyrood should allow an inquiry”

I didn't ask you what the Scottish Government should do about the victimised miners I asked you to comment on what they did do.

The rest of your post is regurgitated drivel but the above answer gives you away.

Councillor Kelly. When you reply in rotweiller mode, I know I've hit a nerve.
If you still class yourself as a Socialist, how can you be in the labour party? All i see is a person with one object in life - a bitter hatred of the SNP. That's fine by me but I think it clouds your thinking and blinds you to the fact that your party has failed.

As is per your want I'll leave the last word to you as I'm too busy to wait around until you approve the post. It will also give you time for a retort.
Hope that makes your day. Have a nice time explaining the labour party's betrayal to your ward.
Bye

You’ve got it all wrong,I should just said “I really don’t see anything from you that would cause me to care about what you think”

Perhaps you should try again at some time in the future when you actually have something to say.

Bit rich from a Labour class traitor.

I thought when the Labour Party sold out the miners back in 84, it was a mistake, a one off blip with the leadership trying to appear moderate to win votes and get the tories out. I was wrong. It was the beginning of the end and I'm just sorry I wasted so much of my life working and campaigning for a party that really is lower than vermin. Nothing but tories without the guts to admit what they are.

Even when Labour carried out it's disgraceful attacks on the disabled, asylum seekers and the poor I said to myself that it's not perfect but the tories would be worse. What a laugh. Sitting on your hands selling out the trade unions and cosying up to the Daily Mail.

Scum, hypocrites, opportunists and class traitors.
