It's logical to examine the record and performance of who has been governing our council over the last 5 years before voting on Thursday May 3Rd. 2012. I offer the following information on the record of the SNP / Liberal Democrat council to remind you of what they have been up to, read it and think carefully before you vote, do you want more of this, or a new Labour administration, can Renfrewshire survive another 5 years of this brutal uncaring cabal, it's time to get rid of them.
Extra charges for old people's wardens. – Rises in school music fees. – Withdrawal of school busses. – Loss of hundreds of teachers jobs. – Loss of classroom assistants. – Worst pupil teacher ratios in Scotland. - Closure of schools. – Closure of libraries. – Closure of swimming pools. – Huge rises in sports facility costs for children causing teams to fold. – Removal of payment of funeral insurance for lowest paid council workers. – Closure of day centres for people with learning difficulties. – Removal of £2. 50 p. a week to people with learning difficulties who worked in these centres. – Removal of transport costs for people who worked in these centres. – Bin uplifts cut from 1 week to 2. – Pensioners annual day trip stopped. – Closure of pensioner's lunch clubs and social clubs through hall cost rises. – 750 council jobs lost causing council services to suffer.
What you see above is only a flavour of what has been done to the people of Renfrewshire by the SNP/Liberal Democrat council coalition, there is lots more and this merciless and constant attack on the most vulnerable people in our society will continue if they are put back in power this Thursday May 3Rd. 2012 – For the sake of those less fortunate than ourselves as well as Renfrewshire in general do not let this happen, vote them out and vote Labour back in, it's time to restore decent compassionate local council control and Labour will do that.
Before voting you should consider that some people have good cause to celebrate the SNP/ Liberal Democratic coalition which has governed Renfrewshire for the past term. These are the senior officers of Renfrewshire Council who were given a 23% pay rise by the SNP/Liberal Democrat council. You read that right! senior officers were given an annual wage rise which amounted to more than our low paid council workers get for their annual salary. This wage award was made by the same SNP/Liberal Democratic Council who removed death insurance cover from our lowest paid employees. They don't deserve your vote do not give them it! VOTE LABOUR and restore proper caring local government based on the right priorities, Labour Priorities.

Might be prudent to mention that in the 5 years prior to the SNP/Lib Dem coalition, the Labour Council increased council tax at rates of up to 738% in a year (yes that is seven hundred and thirty eight per cent) of the rate of inflation.
Here is a wee summary of the stats that are available on the internet to anyone who cares to check if they are in disbelief.
1999/2000 8.05% Labour Council tax rise - rate of inflation - 1.3% = 619% above the inflation rate.
2000/2001 5.9 % Labour Council tax rise - rate of inflation - 0.8% = 619% above the inflation rate.
2001/2002 5.02% Labour Council tax rise - rate of inflation - 1.2% - 418% above the inflation rate.
2002/2003 4.99% Labour Council tax rise - rate of inflation - 1.3% - 384% above the inflation rate.
2003/2004 5.16% Labour Council tax rise - rate of inflation - 1.4% - 369% above the inflation rate.
2004/2005 5.01% Labour Council tax rise - rate of inflation - 1.3% - 385% above the inflation rate.
2005/2006 8.05% Labour Council tax rise - rate of inflation - 1.3% - 228% above the inflation rate.
The SNP/Lib Dems have frozen council tax for the last 5 years and the SNP have committed to freezing it again for the period that they are in Scottish Government.
If they hadn't done this then I would have lost my house due to lack of financial control by Labour idiots.
So no Terry, Labour will not be getting my vote as I don't wish to lose my house after working hard all of my life to get it.

Being an SNP apologist you won’t have heard of a guy called Benjamin Disraeli but; you might have heard the famous saying “there are lies, damn lies and statistics” he said that. You could have saved yourself a lot of trouble by accusing me of someone who believes in raising taxes and I would have gladly pleaded guilty. I am also opposed to freezing and lowering taxes to buy votes which the SNP are doing, just like abandoning prescription charges when the truth is that those who benefit from such chicanery are the well off.
The story about losing your house is a very obvious crock of s**t. You are not telling jokes to your SNP mates in the pub now Mr./Mrs. Whatever your name is, I was born in December but it wasn’t December last year.
No comment on my list of cuts and crimes by the SNP/Libdem deceivers then? How many of those vicious cuts to the vulnerable were due to the Council Tax freeze then? Did you consider that when you set out to con people and make the poorest pay?
My mistake
2000/2001 was 738% above the rate of inflation and not 619%
Weren't labour promising to freeze council taxes at the last Scottish election to buy SNP votes
Why would you accuse me of lying about not being able to afford my house anymore?
My income was rising at less than the rate of inflation and my council tax was rising at several hundred per cent of the rate of inflation,
This means that every year laboiur were leaving me with a smaller and smaller income which if the council tax increases had continued in this fashion then I would no longer have been able to pay my mortgage and my council tax which would have meant that I would have had to sell my house.
It is simple Arithmetic terry that a primary school child could probably muster but it seems that you cannot.
No wonder Renfrewshire got into such a mess under Labour when guys like you can't do their sums.
I will vote for the SNPagain for this reason mainly, however up until the last local election I was a Labour voter all of my life.
The financial pressure that Labour put me under led me to change and I am sure that this is the case for many normal working class people that chose to become homeowners in Renfrewshire.
I have no political affiliation to any party nor do I a bunch of "SNP mates."
no
"Weren't labour promising to freeze council taxes at the last Scottish election to buy SNP votes"
No. that's this election.
No.
Did Labour not make a promise recently at an election to freeze council.
Yes or no?
Did labour ever promise to freeze council tax Terry?
So are you saying that recently Labour have never said that they would freeze council tax?
Actually the saying is
“there are lies, damn lies and The Labour Manifesto”
Quote form the Labour leader in Renfrewshire
“We are following our party’s policy on council tax freeze"

No I meant lies like 2,700 jobs which Salmond promised and did not deliver and did not tell us they were lost. That’s real lies for and there’s more much more, “I was discussing jobs with my Friend Rupert nothing more” (Alex the spiv Salmond)

We did promise a council tax freeze but I can’t remember if it was an election, I’m sure one of you will get to the point here if we wait long enough.
Councillor, please enlarge on the 'Removal of payment of funeral insurance for lowest paid council workers.'
Was it only available to low paid workers and has it been left in place for the higher echelons? Do Councillors get it? What did it cost? What is it worth?

Write to or email Mark Ferguson who is the Union Officer for Unison at Renfrewshire Council and he will fill you in I am too busy, there is an election on.

I found your claims preposterous but I’m not a mathematician so I took the precaution of showing your post to a friend who is a principle teacher of maths. He tried several methods of arriving at your percentage figures but was forced to give up and conclude that he did not understand how you got these results, perhaps you could explain.
As far as your embarrassing and risible tale about facing the loss of your house because of Labour’s council Tax rises is concerned he took the worst case scenario using your figures and worked out that over the most recent 5 year period of Labour control you cited it would have cost you at band b approx. and, erring on the side of safety £430 over the 5 year period or £8o pounds a year or £7.17p.. a month or £1.79p. a week or 26 pence a day for that 5 year period. If you can find a building society or bank who would repossess your house based on these figures then I will say you are right. There are several people waiting for your explanation regarding the massive percentage rises in costs that you quote so I hope you do explain how you got them.

“My mistake 2000/2001 was 738% above the rate of inflation and not 619%”
What did you do wrong? Did you forget to subtract your birthday and add the number you first thought of?
Ok Terry here goes.
2000/2001
Council tax rise = 5.9%
Inflation rate = 0.8%
Divide 5.9 by 0.8 and then multiply by by 100 to convert to a percentage.
Answer = 737.5% which you would round to the even number = 738%
Perhaps I should have rephrased my calculations to say that it was 738% of the inflation rate as opposed to 738% above and if I have mislead on this then I apologise, however, this was not intentional.
With regard to my house which is in band F my council tax(including water/sewarage charges) is actually now higher than my remaining mortgage payment.
For the period of my calculations in question my council tax rose by £44 per month.
I don't recall ever saying that anyone would repossess my house so this is a fabrication that you have came up with to mislead anyone reading this.
What I did say and please read back to check is "if the council tax increases had continued in this fashion then I would no longer have been able to pay my mortgage and my council tax which would have meant that I would have had to sell my house."
This was and still is a fact.
Like many people, I live on a tight budget and have 2 children with 7 years still to pay on my mortgage so any cost increases above inflation put pressure on.
You are a condescending idiot.
Just did a quick check and the figures calculated by anonymous are completely accurate.
Who is your math's teacher Terry. he must have a bogus Degree.
Take a sample year say 1999/2000
You would express the figures as a fraction by putting the rise figure over the inflation rate ie 8.05/1.3
I have left the figures as decimals to make things simpler for you.
To convert to a percentage you would then divide the numerator (figure above the line) by the denominator(figure below the line) and then multiply by 100.
so 8.05/1.3 x 100 = 619% to the nearest whole number.
There is a maths site meant for children that you should read if you can't understand this.
http://www.mathsisfun.com/decimal-fraction-percentage.html
It worries me that people like yourself could be in charge of budgets.
Alec
By Alec on RENFREWSHIRE VOTERS – READ THIS ARTICLE BEFORE YOU... at 11:10
This is pretty much what I predicted and often happens when people look for the worst or indeed best way of presenting figures, it’s really designed to mislead people and divert them away from the point.
Perhaps you could tell us the size of the rise in council tax in pounds shillings and pence for the year you are using 1999 to 2000 for a band (b) house. First give the existing cost for the year and then the cost once the council tax has been added If you do that all the idiots like me would be able to understand the issue clearer and we would not have to worry about people trying to con us with some ridiculous and very old “lies damned lies and statistics”
I would not presume to claim to be “in charge of budgets” I leave that to experts who usually have a laugh at the figures that people like you try to frighten people with. It’s the SNP what else should we expect.
by Anonymous on RENFREWSHIRE VOTERS – READ THIS ARTICLE BEFORE YOU... at 10:12
“if I have mislead on this then I apologise, however, this was not intentional”
So you are a comedian as well then, of course it was intentional your whole correspondence is a deliberate attempt to con people using scary percentages, it’s a very old example of “lies damned lies and statistics” exactly as I predicted.
“I don't recall ever saying that anyone would repossess my house so this is a fabrication that you have came up with to mislead anyone reading this”
Who do you think you are talking to here the SNP half wit club? What a load of bollocks.
“You are a condescending idiot”
I can understand your anger but you need to try a bit harder if you want to con me, how much is your council tax now £2,250.82p ? you have as much chance of losing your house over labour Council Tax rises as I have of owning a band (f) house like yours.
A band B house is irrelevant to my situation as my house is in band F as I have previously posted but you have failed to publish.
My council tax rose by £43 per month over the years that I presented figures for.
i.e
1999/2000 = £1131
2006/2007 = £1651
Difference = £520/12 = £43.33/month
Now in reply to your request(I am using my council tax notifications which are for band F) as band B is not applicable to me.
1999/2000 council tax - £1131.00
2000/2001 council tax - £1222.00
Difference is £91.00
Difference as a percentage rise over 1999/2000 is 91/1131 x 100
= 8.045%
A child of 10 years old could calculate this and perhaps when you eventually acheive that mental age you will be able to as well.
You are digging a bit of a hole for yourself here Terry boy.
Your post about asking a principal maths teacher to check the figures is very obviously a lie.
If it is not a lie then God help the children that he is teaching.
The calculations shown above by Alec and anonymous are completely correct.
Did you not do any Arithmetic at school Mr Kelly.
Not posted for a while as your site was getting extremely boring.
Cheers
Ronnie
Ronnie - You and the two clowns you are backing have been rumbled. If I raised the price of a £1 article to £2 it would be a massive rise of 100 % but the price would still only be £2 - People are not as gullible as you would like to think.
By Anonymous on RENFREWSHIRE VOTERS – READ THIS ARTICLE BEFORE YOU... at 15:09
I don’t think so, I have exposed a wee con by these SNP clowns who are trying to make a case out of something that doesn’t exist.
By Anonymous on RENFREWSHIRE VOTERS – READ THIS ARTICLE BEFORE YOU... at 15:06
You are lying about me not posting your house band – clear it up. I fear that you will never reach an age or an understanding which informs you that you are not as clever as you like to think, when will your mental age be sufficient enough for you to spell properly? Is this what passes for debate with you clowns?
"when will your mental age be sufficient enough for you to spell properly?"
Your mental age is obviously not old enough tO spell properly Terry."
"Principal" is how to spell Principal Teacher, not Principle.
People in glass houses and all that.
You are a laughing stock.

I could go over other posts Mr. Anonymous but it would be meaningless, I hoped against hope that you might see the futility of such childish nonsense and in language that you no doubt will understand “you started it”
I am delighted that the new Labour council will reinstate the warden service.
This is great news.
Terry, I know this is early days but can you keep me up to date on your website when this will happen.
Charlene McKenna
Terry,
Congratulations on your victory.
Can you tell me or advise when the sports centre charges will be reduced.
Thanks
Martin

If you can tell me exactly how much money the SNP/Libdems squandered and exactly how much money is available to undo the misery and pain they have caused I will try to answer your question. Anyway why are you pursuing me when you should be bragging about the great? SNP success. Who’se wearing the smiles?
By Anonymous on RENFREWSHIRE VOTERS – READ THIS ARTICLE BEFORE YOU... on 05/05/12
I have the greatest pleasure in referring you to my answer to ‘Martin of Sunday, May 06, 20 12 3:31:00 PM.”
Perhaps you could explain why you are not bragging about the great victory you had on May 03 20 12- Where is Salmond (the spiv) ? which party is wearing the smiles Charlene?
Terry,
I don't understand your reply.
I only asked when you would reinstate the warden service after I gave my vote to labour.
The reference to Martin I also do not understand.
Can you please explain what you mean.
Charlene McKenna
By Charlene on RENFREWSHIRE VOTERS – READ THIS ARTICLE BEFORE YOU... on 06/05/12
Dear Charlene – I mean that if you read my reply to martin as suggested you will find the answer to your post. The answer to him covers you both as it were.
I still don't get this so can you spell it out for me Terry.
I asked if labour would reintroduce the Warden service which is what I voted for.
Martin does not mention this in any of his posts.
You also refer to bragging about a victory.
I assume that you mean the Labour victory.
My friend Pauline directed me to your site but now I am unsure.
It seems that you you want to lash out at anyone from what I can see.
I will ask my husband Brendan to come to your surgery and discuss this off line.
Hope that I have got this wrong.
Charlene McKenna
Actually Terry.
Don't bother replying to my last post.
It looks that I have been duped.
The old saying abour "how do you know when a politicioan is telling lies. It's when his lips move."
is so true.
I will live and learn.
