CAN SALMOND GET AWAY WITH THIS ONE?

SALMOND! In this case I have deliberately dropped my usual description of him as a spiv, this is very serious. We were told that Scotland was a compassionate country by Kenny MacAskill as part of his reason for granting the release of the Lockerbie bomber, a release which I agreed with but not for the SNP’s reasons. Notwithstanding the inane idiocy of McAskill’s comments (people can be compassionate not countries) we now have the quite incredible statement from Salmond that had Thomas Hamilton the man responsible for the Dunblane massacre survived he would never have been granted early release under any circumstances. The cybernats are going nuts on various sites because of this blunder; huge attempts are being made by them to confuse the matter by rerunning the arguments about whether the bomber was guilty which is not the issue here.

What is happening here is that Salmond was asked a question which he didn’t see coming and rather than stick to the declared SNP position which he fears is a vote loser he quite shamefully jumped ship. This is the measure of the man; no matter what the issue is; no matter whether the answer is a conniving cop out or a blatant lie the answer you are certain to get from Salmond is the one which he thinks is politically expedient. Whether it’s drowned fishermen or dead soldiers his concern is always “what’s best for me” The mawkish drivel trotted out about Scots compassion and sympathy was a lot of nonsense from the start the SNP are firmly facing both ways here and not for the first time. The SNP position was that any prisoner can be considered for compassionate release; Salmond has now ripped that to bits for political gain; he simply and instinctively acted like the charlatan he is. Will Salmond now explain which of them is right McAskill or him I think we should be told but I doubt if we will.

Is that the same Lockerbie bomber who was definitely, absolutely, undoubtedly going to pop his sandals inside three months but who is still alive and looking better by the day? And you agreed to his release!!!

Well, Scotland is safe with you, Councillor - not!

Even by the excremental standards of New Labour, your are a bad case is just about the worst case of bad manners I have come across.
You must know that you are a something of an in joke and a byword on the net for quite invincible ignorance.
Why do you expose yourself to such ridicule?
Have you ever thought about getting treatment for your condition?

I always thought the reason Megrahi was released was because the UK government put covert pressure on the Scottish authorities in order to win business contracts in Libya.

Otherwise why didn't Gordon Brown criticize the release?

Can you clarify your own position on this Councillor?

If Thomas Hamilton had survived do you think that he should have been eligible for early release under any circumstances?

I have just received the Nats leaflets from the habitual loser Andy Do-nut.

What he forgets to tell us is the fact that the Nat/Lib/ Administration have:

Closed Swimming Pools.
Increased charges for the Warden Service.
Taken away kids bus passes.
Cancelled pensioners voucher scheme
and summer trip.

For many pensioners this was there only day out.

Paisley is a shambles, full of Neds, bookies, pubs, hair dressers, charity shops, pounds shops.

And to add insult to injury Mr McKay has asked for a call to arms in relation to Paisleys future.

Added to the activities of some of the snp's councillors:

Second homes
Avoidance of Council tax.
Close links to unsavoury business characters.

I could go on. I will certainly not ne voting snp this year or nay other year for that matter.

Yes I agreed with his release because that is what the medical experts said; you presumably would ignore the advice of medical opinion and decide based on your own vast knowledge.

You can't even see that the Lockerbie Bomber like other criminals is irrelevant here it's an issue of whether compassionate release is acceptable or not, bringing in individual cases simply weakens your argument.

Perhaps you would be better saying “no release for anyone who commits murder or Hang anyone who commits murder or burn them at the stake which would you prefer?

Another conspiracy theorist; you guys are a joke but not funny; the doctors and prison authorities all told lies right?

You should not assume that everyone is as thick as yourself; I have already stated my position clearly; I believe in compassionate release for any prisoner who meets the criteria; the decision on individual cases would not be mine and I would not want it to be mine because I am not qualified to deal with such matters. Perhaps you could share your undoubted wisdom, experience and training on the issue and let us know your opinion.

McAskill and the SNP agree with me but Salmond (the spiv) has just reversed that; why are you unable to comment on that?

I think that the forthcoming election is about to deliver a verdict on the SNP Lib. Dem. council in Renfrewshire based on some of the points you make here. People are very angry; they have been lied to big style and they are in a mood to punish the liars

Did Major get away with calling his cabinet bastards? Did Obama get away with his religion and guns remark? Prescott’s punch? Thatcher’s war crimes? People who understand politics (clearly not you) know that this kind of thing goes on all the time.

Kelly @ 5.08

This PM really is accident prone isn't he,Councillor? Glad you believe alienating anyone who questions him is nothing to worry about! You planning on joining the real world anytime soon?

Do you agree with the man, that questioning Labours immigration policy and asking for tighter controls, makes one a bigot?

Major, Obama, Prescott, Thatcher, Brown.

Which one of these was stupid enough to insult one of his staunchest supporters and then sit with his head in his hands on national television?

Answers on a postcard please!

Major, Obama and Thatcher’s situation was much worse Prescott was able to claim self defence but the other 3 were as bad as it gets, perhaps you have never heard of the Thatcher Gould interview.

The “man” did not say that and you are clutching at straws; if you want to know what a dyed in the wool bigot looks like look in the mirror.
