A little while ago I wrote about the tragic suicides at the Red Road Flats and made remarks about the YMCA who run the housing facility for asylum seekers, my remarks were based on strongly critical comments from a homeless charity in Glasgow. I asked the YMCA for a response which they sent and I published it; some people took me to task for prejudging the YMCA which I deny.
I have now received a comment from someone who is critical of the YMCA and the person asked a simple but rather salient question namely just how much money does the YMCA get for each asylum seeker that it houses.
I can see no reason why the YMCA would not agree to share this information with us; anything we can learn about the situation regarding the asylum seekers and their treatment would be interesting to know, I therefore ask the following of the YMCA.
1/ How much do the YMCA get paid for each asylum seeker that they house per night.
2/ How many asylum seekers do they deal with in a year.
3/ What do they provide to the client for their payment.
4/ How many other organisations were given the chance to take on this servive.
I hope someone who knows the answers will contact me; perhaps some of those who accused me of being unfair to the YMCA could help here and maybe some readers could suggest other questions.

In return would you print how much every Labour Party sponsor donates to the party at every level and who they are?
Perhaps you should print the comment first before asking for further information

If you are writing in support of the YMCA or if you have any kind of locus in this matter, you need to learn to count to ten before writing.
Donations to the Labour Party have absolutely nothing to do with this issue and throwing that question into the mix simply makes you look suspicious.
Is that why you are anonymous?

The comment was printed on March 11th. 10 - under the post RED ROAD TRAGEDY - YMCA RESPONSE. Click on the comments at the bottom and you can read it.
I think the information you are looking for is available under the FOI Act - all you have to do is ask. Probably no-one has asked these specific questions before and that is why the info. is not available.
I have no banner to wave for the YMCA, not being a christian nor a believer in any sort of religion. However you maybe have to ask if the YMCA were not providing this service who would? Glasgow City Council? I doubt it. An agreement was made to move asylum seekers to Glasgow, I think you will find that as usual the 'charitable' organisations pick up the results, not your Labour party or any 'inaccessible' government support organisation.

“I think the information you are looking for is available under the FOI Act 2
I know that but I would rather give the YMCA the chance to respond.
“However you maybe have to ask if the YMCA were not providing this service who would?”
I have asked that, if you check you will see that I asked if anyone else was given the opportunity of running this service.
Glasgow accepted the asylum seekers because they had the empty houses and the money for rents etc. would follow them.
I don’t like the responses we have had so far and I intend to keep on asking questions on my blog.
Some of us in Govanhill wonder about 'Ms Robina'. I would not not say she is accurate all the time Mr. Kelly.
Perhaps be a little more circumspect?

I have printed what she said and printed the YMCA’s response; I have asked them to comment on her latest statement and the one I posted before that and they have not responded to either; why should I be more circumspect? What are you afraid to say?
