I agree ...The whole thing is a disgraceful episode. I agree with the point you're making that mentally ill or not he shouldn't have been executed. However I do think the state of the man's mind makes what has been done to him far worse. It's rather like shooting folk for cowardice when they were suffering from shellshock (not that they should have been shot for cowardice). In other words his crime may well have been a symptom of his illness, in which case he should have received medical care not punishment. It's as barbaric and wicked as executing a cripple for being unable to walk.

This is an excellnt post and it is heartening to know that for every barbarian on the planet there is someone willing to condemn them.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35177951.post-3582329513939782212009-12-30T21:58:41.816+00:002009-12-30T21:58:41.816+00:00You know what stinks about this for me, Terry? That the Foreign Office is complaining about China's attitude, while at the same time, the Home Office is happy to deport the autistic Gary McKinnon to the US. Now, he won't face the same fate, but the hypocrisy is there for all to see.Willhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10978812670312106107noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35177951.post-12779268304083235542009-12-30T19:57:26.998+00:002009-12-30T19:57:26.998+00:00'Capital punishment solves nothing.'
